About the Role

The Quality Management Systems (QMS) Engineer is responsible for developing and sustain the Quality Management System in line with the required industry standards (including: IATF 16949, VDA6.3), accreditation requirements and business requirements across the organization through existing and new procedures. Manage the audit program (internal and external) to ensure that all nonconformities raised against certification bodies and internal standards during audits are effectively corrected and independently verified. Lead the team to achieve quality management system targets for customers and continuous improvement objectives.

What You Will Do
  • Oversee and ensure compliance with the organization’s quality management system, policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and review the performance of the quality system with department managers and provide guidance for compliance to established standards.
  • Oversee the training and development of quality system personnel.
  • Develop auditing plans and manage the auditing process to ensure compliance with IATF16949 and VDA standards.
  • Create and maintain local documents, standards and records associated with the quality system in alignment with global initiatives and compliance standards provided.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the corrective action process and ensure corrective and preventative actions are taken.
  • Coordinate external audits with customers and accreditation bodies with local team in support of IATF, VDA and Customer expectations.
  • Support supplier audits in regards to supplier quality systems and accreditation compliance.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance standards.
  • Monitor quality standards and provide guidance and recommendation of QMS changes to plant leadership.
  • Lead and maintain local internal audit program to ensure identified corrective actions are closed out in a timely manner.
  • Manage and drive closure for identified non-conformances and audit gap analysis.
  • Oversee change management program to ensure changes are adequately documented and completed in compliance with local policies.
  • Conducts job functions with minimal guidance and follow-up. Leads and delegates various responsibilities, as required, to project core team members or vehicle processor. Outlines and reports on completion status, open issues, action plans, problem analysis (including departmental or core team process issues) and makes recommendations to the core team, manager, quality assurance and core team management, if required, at planned milestones. Consults and supports other engineers in the above.
  • Develops and publishes updates to AESC quality standards for customers, including quality system, quality system audit and product approval requirements. Develops supplier base quality system audit program. Supports vehicle processor in developing quality standards and audit programs. Develops, updates and maintains quality assurance departmental work instructions.
What You Need
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business or a related field is required or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Strong knowledge of IATF16949 and VDA6.3 quality standards.
  • IATF16949 and/or VDA 6.3 Lead Auditor Certification
  • A minimum of 1 year of directly related IATF and VDA Compliance auditing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication proficiency in English
  • At least 1 year of experience in the development of quality processes & documentation supporting a fast-paced manufacturing and production environment is required.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and communicate data.
  • Ability to prioritize and pivot daily activities driven by production urgency.

What is “Nice to Have”
  • Background in supporting a highly technical automotive-related manufacturing environment is highly desired.
  • Proficiency in additional languages beyond English is advantageous, as it aligns with our global operations and enhances communication with diverse stakeholders.
  • Cross-Cultural Experience: Previous experience working in cross-cultural environments, or a demonstrated understanding of cultural nuances would be beneficial, given our global presence and diverse team.
  • Start-up Experience: Experience or familiarity with the dynamics of start-up environments, showcasing an ability to thrive in agile and fast-paced settings.
Travel

Occasional domestic and international travel required.

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily an automated manufacturing plant with a concrete floor and is characterized by some temperature extremes, moderate noise, and forklift traffic.
