Summary of Work:

The Grants Manger is a key member of the Fundraising and Marketing team focused on furthering the impact to support individuals and families on the path to economic and family stability. Working with the entire leadership team, the Grants Manager is responsible for researching, preparing, submitting, and managing grant proposals and reports that support agency goals and meet funder guidelines and criteria. The Grants Manager is responsible for administrative duties related to proposal development and application, navigating funder and program communication, compliance to funder requirements and deadlines, developing and maintaining a system to track grant details, and should have strong skills in the areas of grant writing and editing, data analysis, teamwork, planning and organizing, and project management.

The Grants Manager works in collaboration with the Executive Team and Program and Administrative Leadership in developing and navigating a grant and proposal strategy plan and oversight of requirements, regulations and compliances of institutional funding partners. This role helps to communicate the organization’s value in a compelling manner. Through these fund development efforts, LSSI will be able to sustain and grow services addressing sustainable employment, family and financial stability, quality early-learning, parenting education, child safety, mental health support and recovery support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Pre-Award Research, Management and Communication (40% -- 10 hours)

  • Research and identify government, foundation and corporate entity prospects in collaboration with Leadership in alignment with organization goals.
  • Establishes strong working relationship with program leadership to understand LSSI’s programmatic approach and outcomes and communicates the organization’s value proposition in compelling manner in writing.
  • Partners with key stakeholders throughout LSSI to successfully bring increased institutional funding. This may include collaborating on new program development to meet community needs.
  • Research, identify and determine organizational eligibility for new funding streams that align with LSSI’s program portfolio, approach and geography.
  • Seeks out and organizes opportunities for executive and program leadership to meet and develop relationships with institutional decision makers.
  • Provides follow-up support and communication for external relationships as needed.
  • Leads efforts to organize and compose proposal content such as letters of inquiry, narratives, budget justifications, and letters of support.
  • Creates and manages timelines and outlines for proposal completion with defined responsibilities by component for program and administrative staff.

Grant Management (40% -- 10 hours)

  • Responsible for all administrative duties related to grants once awarded. This includes completing initial acceptance paperwork and submissions, reporting, and proposal and application development for institutional funders.
  • Prepare report templates for executive and leadership staff in program and administrative departments.
  • Create and manage timelines and outlines for reporting and reapplication completion with defined responsibilities by component for program and administrative staff.
  • In partnership with Director of Marketing and Communications and specific program leadership, assists in developing a compelling and inspired vision and impact to potential funders for each program.
  • Translates programmatic approach and outcomes to meet specific audience needs.
  • Completes additional application forms and requirements as needed.

• Collect data and write all grant proposals in a timely manner in order to meet deadlines.

Stewardship and (10% -- 2 to 3 hours per week)

  • With Executive and leadership team, creates, improves and enforces system-wide policies and procedures to capture and internally and externally share outcome measures and examples of programmatic impact required for funding partners.
  • Develop and maintain a system to track deadlines, outcomes and reporting required by funders.
  • Proactively prepares for and meets grant and funder deadlines for reporting.
  • Serves as the primary administrator responsible for adhering to funder requirements and implements controls and processes to identify any issues throughout the grant period.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree with two to five years of grant development or grant management experience is required.
  • Demonstrated successful experience managing grants along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Grant Management database or project management software experience is required.
  • Interpersonal communication skills demonstrated by effective interactions with others.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy required.
  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Valid driver's license, in force auto insurance and vehicle for full time business use required.
    1. Minimum Auto Insurance Coverage Levels:
      • Bodily Injury Liability
        • $100,000 for any one person in any one accident
        • $300,000 for all persons in any one accident
      • Property Damage Liability
        • $100,000 for any one accident
