JOB SUMMARY

The Luna Labs’ Finance Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of accounting compliance standards, exceptional attention to detail, and a passion for achieving the company’s financial objectives.

Reporting directly to the VP of Finance, the Senior Accountant works onsite in Luna Labs’ Charlottesville office and is responsible for account management including completing accurate account reviews and reconciliations; preparing, reviewing, and/or posting accounting entries; assisting with month-end close processing and reporting activities; and supporting interim, quarterly, and annual audit activities. The Senior Accountant must have in-depth Deltek CostPoint experience, applied skill and knowledge of US GAAP and FAR policies and procedures, and be proficient in use of Microsoft Excel, particularly creating and using pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and IF functions. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Resolving identified accounting discrepancies.
  • Reconciling indirect rates to the general ledger.
  • Uploading/downloading daily and weekly transactions and files from electronic banking application.
  • Monitoring local and state tax requirements, i.e. use and personal property taxes.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSIDERATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • 5+ years previous accounting operations experience is required. Experience in SBIR contracting is preferred.
  • Recently applied experience with Deltek Costpoint is a firm requirement.
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency (i.e. pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and IF Functions)
  • Familiarity with accounting support with various government agencies (i.e. DOD, NIH, Aerospace…etc.) is preferred.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Due to government contracting regulations, U.S. citizenship is a firm requirement.
