JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Banquet Kitchen Supervisor Department: Kitchen Reports to: Executive Chef Status: Hourly Non-Exempt

Compensation
$16.00 - $18.00 (this is the salary range for this position, final determination based on skills and experience.)

Summary of Position
The Banquet Kitchen Supervisor oversees and coordinates the culinary operations for banquets and special events. This role ensures that all food preparation meets high standards of quality and presentation while managing kitchen staff, inventory, and sanitation.

Duties & Responsibilities

Supervision & Leadership:
  • Supervise and direct kitchen staff during banquet events, ensuring efficient and smooth operations.
  • Train and mentor kitchen staff on food preparation techniques, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Schedule staff shifts and manage labor costs effectively.
Food Preparation & Presentation:
  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of dishes for banquets and events, ensuring consistency and adherence to recipes and presentation standards.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to plan menus and adjust recipes based on client preferences and dietary restrictions.
Inventory & Ordering:
  • Manage inventory levels, including ordering, receiving, and storing supplies.
  • Conduct regular inventory checks to minimize waste and control costs.
  • Ensure that all food and kitchen supplies are stored properly and used efficiently.
Quality Control & Compliance:
  • Maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation, adhering to health regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct regular inspections of kitchen equipment and work areas to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.
  • Implement and enforce safety procedures and protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
Customer Service:
  • Address any issues or concerns related to food quality or service promptly and professionally.
  • Collaborate with event planners and coordinators to ensure that client specifications and expectations are met.
Administrative Duties:
  • Prepare and maintain reports related to kitchen operations, including staff performance, inventory levels, and event feedback.
  • Assist in budgeting and cost control measures for banquet operations.
Essential Functions
  • Ability to verbally communicate effectively with guests and co-workers.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking.
  • Oversee and supervises daily banquet operation.
  • Prepare all food items for banquet use according to standard recipes.
  • Visually inspects and samples all food for proper taste, color combination and overall presentation to maintain appeal.
  • Maintain kitchen inventory and follow storing stand maintain product freshness.
  • Perform daily duties including maintaining the open and closing checklist as well as other special projects.
  • Communicate with management on all aspects of the kitchen including: staff issues, disciplinary issues, inventory, repair and maintenance and any other kitchen concerns.
  • Maintain positive relationships with management and kitchen associates.
  • Practice and enforce appropriate hand hygiene and glove use when necessary during food preparation activities, such as between handling raw meat and other foods, to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Enforce that all food safety requirements as it relates to food preparation, handling and storing is followed by all kitchen associates.
Other Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects.
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
  • Work in a kitchen environment with exposure to heat, noise, and potential hazards.
  • Must be available to work during peak times and special events.
Safety Awareness
Maintain safety by adhering to safety policies, being responsible to report all accidents immediately. Support all safety programs. Proceed with caution when walking on slippery floors. Ensure proper safety instructions are given before operating any equipment.
Notice:
ARLLC, operating as Augusta Marriott at the Convention Center, function seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. You as an associate must realize this fact and be aware that at times, it may be necessary to move you from your accustomed shift, as business demands. In addition, you understand that business determines the amount of hours you work, and that some weeks may be scheduled for less than forty hours, and on other weeks you may be scheduled to work more than forty hours per week.
