SALARY UP TO $62,000 DEPENDING UPON EXPERIENCE

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Benefits & Safety Manager, the Work Comp and Safety Specialist is accountable for administering all aspects of the workers compensation and auto liability programs and promoting the health and safety of our associates while reducing the financial risks associated with work-related injuries and vehicle accidents.

  • Maintain accurate work comp and vehicle accident files
  • Administer work comp injury and illness claims and vehicle accident claims
  • Coordinate transitional duty program for injured workers
  • Analyze root causes of incidents and analyze trends; develop an action plan to address and implement a solution
  • Contribute to HR team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Manage the company’s drug safety programs, including FMCSA/DOT and FRA
  • Provide associates and managers with HR support and assistance as needed to work through claims with insurance
  • Administer company safety program
  • Develop an active and well-focused safety incentive program that rewards positive safety behaviors
  • Maintain company OSHA log
  • Maintain company safety compliance portals, including but not limited to ISN and Avetta
  • Interact with customers, vendors, and co-workers in a professional manner
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and follow all safety regulations and practices
  • Open-minded willingness for continual learning
  • Follow all Koorsen policies, procedures, and core values
  • Any other duties deemed appropriate by management

Required:

  • 1 year of workers compensation experience
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Understanding of work comp statutes and regulations
  • Knowledge of auto claims handling
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational, time management, attention to detail, and basic mathematical skills
  • Proficiency working with a computer, using email, and with Microsoft Suite; Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Ability to be an empathetic listener and work with associates at all levels within the organization
  • Confidentiality and respect for the privacy of employee records is a must
  • Ability to work independently in a time-sensitive environment
  • Pass drug and background screening

Preferred:

  • Prior experience managing worker's compensation claims
  • Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and environmental regulations
  • Knowledge of insurance claims

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to sit for long periods; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms

HIRING PROCESS (in addition to an interview):
1. New hires must complete the I-9 Verification form within 3 days of hire. This form is required by the U.S. Department of Justice and Immigration and Immigration and Naturalization Services and is used to verify your identity and right to work in the United States. In addition, we verify employment eligibility via E-Verify.
2. Background checks with criminal courts, state and county repositories of criminal records, and the Department of Motor Vehicles, are required of all Positions.
3. Tests for Evidence of Substance Abuse by way of urinalysis test is required if this application results in an offer of employment.
