Job Summary:
The Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts [PCPA] is seeking a Development & Engagement Manager. This position will report to the Director of Community Engagement, working as a key team member in the Education, Engagement, and Special Initiatives Department. This position is primarily responsible for procuring revenue and resources for the nonprofit organization, managing sponsorships and other community business partnerships, soliciting Broadway playbill ad sales and group ticket sales, managing fundraising initiatives including grants and donor relations, facilitating community engagement events and programs, and general data collection and reporting. It is expected that the Development & Engagement Manager will maintain existing organizational activities and collaborate on new fundraising initiatives, with responsibilities evolving in scope as the Pioneer Center grows. The Development & Engagement Manager must possess exceptional writing skills, be self-motivated, and enjoy interacting with the community as a representative of the Pioneer Center. In addition to working closely with the Director of Community Engagement, this position will collaborate with the Marketing & Communications Manager, Education Manager, Controller, and Events Director. The ideal candidate will be extremely organized, detail-oriented, dependable, confident, have a passion for the performing arts and nonprofits, and appreciate the positive and respectful company culture at PCPA. This is a full-time, non-exempt, hourly position available on or about August 12, 2024. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. 

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Director of Community Engagement with procuring, managing, and reporting for grant funds received by PCPA  
  • Facilitate and manage existing fundraising campaigns including Giving Tuesday, End-of-Year Giving, Buy-A-Seat, and Break-Away Theatre Tours as well as new campaigns 
  • Procure and manage program sponsorships, Broadway playbill ad sales, and group ticket sales from area businesses  
  • Identify and develop new business partnerships, sponsorships, relationships, and collaborative opportunities 
  • Provide support for private and corporate donor engagement  
  • Collaborate with PCPA team and partners to identify and target potential new patron and donor demographics based on organization’s goals  
  • General donor and sponsor management including tracking incoming funds, communications, and acknowledgement/recognition 
  • Manage and maintain branded assets for all sponsorship and playbill ad sales in collaboration with the Marketing & Communications Manager 
  • Coordinate materials and business participation in Broadway at the Bars and other cross-promotional programs  
  • Facilitate special Pioneer Center community engagement and fundraising events  
  • Manage participation and represent the Pioneer Center at community and promotional events, including managing a community engagement calendar and all associated due dates 
  • Manage PCPA ticket donation program and collections of donated items for partner nonprofits at PCPA events
  • Track and document statistics and materials for use in the annual report, promotional materials, and grant applications 
  • Update website content related to development and fundraising programs in coordination with Marketing & Communications Manager 
  • Collaborate with team members on media buys and marketing campaigns as related to development and engagement programs 
  • General public brand monitoring and other public relations duties in collaboration with team members as needed

Required Qualifications:
  • Completed bachelor’s degree, or 4 years related experience and training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite including Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook
  • Experience working in the nonprofit sector
  • Demonstrated experience in development-specific activities such as fundraising, donor management, grant writing, promotional/community events, and/or outside sales
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive and privileged information 
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills in English
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Some evening and weekend schedule flexibility for events
  • Willingness to submit to a background check prior to employment
  • Passion for the northern Nevada community, non-profit work, and the performing arts

Preferred Additional Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in nonprofit development, community engagement, and/or outside sales
  • Management-level experience
  • Grant writing or comparable background
  • Spanish language skills
  • Reliable personal transportation and valid driver’s license
  • Desire to make a long-term commitment to PCPA

Employment Overview:
    • Hourly position
    • Typical schedule: Monday – Friday | 9am to 5pm (with some flexibility for evening and weekend events as needed)
    • Starting pay: $33 per hour
