Under minimal supervision, the Legal Administrative Assistant provides legal secretarial assistance to assigned legal staff. Prepares, processes, and types legal documents such as contracts, briefs, summonses, complaints and motions. Enters, updates and retrieves information using multiple systems and databases. Collects, organizes and prepares files and materials for attorneys for use in court appearances or for transacting other legal business. Schedules appointments and maintains calendars. Acts as a liaison between attorneys, courts, witnesses, other agencies and the public.
Graduation from high school or a general equivalency diploma (GED) required. Ability to type at least 50 wpm proficiently required. Must be able to prioritize, work independently, and take charge without supervision. Two (2) years clerical or managerial experience required. Computer proficiency including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word and Excel required. Communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as ability to deal with the public are strongly considered.
