ENTEK is seeking applications for a Purchasing Specialist role to join us on-site at our Lebanon, Oregon location (relocation within 40 miles of Lebanon is required).


The Purchasing Specialist purchases raw materials, equipment, machinery and supplies at the most favorable price consistent with provided specifications and requirements. Prepares requests for quotes, receives bids and makes purchases of commodities or goods where the financial impact is moderate. May work directly in support of line operations, sales and inventory. Often interacts with department managers, engineers or operations staff. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, computer skills, and effective communication, written, in person, and on the phone, are required.


Key Responsibilities

  • Purchases raw materials, equipment, machinery and supplies at the most favorable price and lead time in accordance with provided specifications and requirements.
  • Reviews requisitions, bills of materials, sales orders, and drawings for completeness of information prior to issuing a purchase order, and with adherence to company policies.
  • Requests quotations and reviews proposals from several vendors and negotiates for the most favorable terms possible.
  • Determines appropriate shipping methods to best meet ENTEK's delivery and cost requirements.
  • Generates work orders for completion by the fabrication department.
  • Maintains records pertaining to items purchased, cost, delivery, and product inventories.
  • Works with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve pricing, part(s), and delivery discrepancies.
  • Coordinates vendor returns; ensuring required paperwork, shipping arrangements, and credits/refunds are communicated and documented.
  • Proactively communicates order status with requisitioners, sales, or relevant stakeholders.
  • Identifies cost savings opportunities to utilize alternate vendors or acceptable item substitutions with approval from relevant stakeholders.
  • Builds vendor relationships and develops industry contacts.
  • Participates in mentoring of Purchasing Assistant.
  • Works with a team to develop, implement, and refine best practices within department while supporting continuous improvement efforts.

Working Environment

The hours for this role are Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear, is occasionally required to stand, walk, or sit for extended lengths of time, and requires specific vision abilities, including close, color, and focus. The employee will work in an office environment. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the production facility is usually moderate, and this employee will sometimes be exposed to the production area. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 1+ years’ experience in Procurement, or related field.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with co-workers and vendors in person and via phone or email correspondence.
  • Strong computer and typing skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Satisfactory results from a pre-employment drug screen.

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree .
