Position Summary
The Development Coordinator will perform activities related to fund development for CenterState CEO, CenterState CEO Foundation and Invest CNY across a variety of streams including but not limited to grant funding, individual giving, and fee-for-service. The Development Coordinator will provide support to the Director of Development/Executive Director of the CenterState CEO Foundation and Invest CNY by assisting with activities including the development of materials for grant/contracting proposals, reporting, board meetings, funder/client communications, and other related activities; grant and contract research; processing donations; tracking grant/contracting and fundraising activities; and assistance with event coordination.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support grant and contract opportunity research, vetting, summary creation, and decision-making processes.
- Develop proposal templates and support the drafting and editing of proposal documents.
- Collect, collate, and upload proposal materials to funder portals.
- Process grant submission, award, and reporting documents, information, and communications in collaboration with program staff.
- Support grant reporting and management activities in coordination with program staff and Human Capital & Administration staff including Finance & Accounting.
- Record and track donations.
- Create, disburse, and file donor acknowledgements and receipts.
- Maintain donor records including contact lists.
- Support the development of materials and coordination of CenterState CEO Foundation and Invest CNY board meetings.
- Coordinate and support the preparation of materials for funder/donor communications and events.
- Monitor and support the management of and communication with Invest CNY’s fiscally sponsored projects.
- Support additional research, coordination, and planning needs of the Strategy, Policy & Planning team.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Ability to write clearly and persuasively and summarize complex materials.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects to meet internal and external deadlines.

- Eagerness to take on new tasks, experiment, and learn new skills.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of programs and other relevant software; a willingness and capacity to learn new software and web-based applications (e.g., grant submission portals).
Candidates ideally demonstrate:
- Grant writing skills and experience writing grant proposals to a variety of funders including private and corporate philanthropy and local, state, and federal agencies.
- Funder portal navigation skills (e.g., grants.gov; cybergrants).
- Specific proficiency with Microsoft Excel related to creating budgets and displaying data including creating/formatting tables and using pivot tables and relevant functions.
- Experience using Salesforce and/or Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack or another fundraising-related CRM.
Experience
2-3 years of experience in development (i.e., grant writing, fundraising), marketing/communications, technical writing, or another relevant field.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Close mental and visual attention required to perform work, verbal and written communication, use a computer, and read long/complex documents.
- General office equipment is used.
Work Environment
- There is no exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
- Work is performed in a typical office work environment with a limited amount of outside travel to client/member/prospect locations.
- Work is performed Monday through Friday with some evening and weekend work.
- CenterState CEO offers a hybrid-optional work environment with flexibility as agreed to by supervisor.
