The Company

Metropolis is an artificial intelligence company that uses computer vision technology to enable frictionless, checkout-free experiences in the real world. Today, we are reimagining parking to enable millions of consumers to just "drive in and drive out." We envision a future where people transact in the real world with a speed, ease and convenience that is unparalleled, even online. Tomorrow, we will power checkout-free experiences anywhere you go to make the everyday experiences of living, working and playing remarkable - giving us back our most valuable asset, time.

The Role

The Head of Public Affairs is responsible for building out the public affairs function at Metropolis and shaping the company's strategy for engaging governments and community leaders. Metropolis' vision of the future is bold, and we are seeking a dynamic professional with extensive experience in government affairs, public policy, compliance, and lobbying. This role will work cross-functionally with internal teams, including Legal, Operations, and Communications, and external advisors to identify key audiences across Metropolis' markets and build a scalable program for proactively and reactively engaging with them.

Responsibilities

  • Establish the strategic direction for the government affairs function to advance the company's business goals and objectives
  • Collaborate closely with Communications, Marketing, and CEO's Office to execute a brand policy campaign to establish Metropolis as the trusted thought leader on shaping the future of mobility / checkout-free payments and to drive awareness, understanding and affinity among key local, state, federal, and media stakeholders.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for all matters related to governmental relations and public policy
  • Cultivate relationships and lead engagement with regulatory bodies, legislative offices, government agencies, and community organizations to ensure a favorable operating environment for Metropolis
  • Identify and assess regulatory and political risks, providing timely insights to senior leadership for informed decision-making
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including Legal, Operations, and Communications teams, to integrate government affairs strategies with broader business priorities
  • Manage relationships with external consultants, lobbyists, and other relevant partners to enhance our government affairs capabilities
  • Stay current on regulatory trends and developments, providing guidance on their impact on the company's operations
  • Represent Metropolis in industry associations, forums, and public events, advocating for the company's business interests

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) required, 10+ years of relevant experience at a fast-paced company
  • Proven leadership in integrating government relations and public policy with business strategy, operations, communications, and marketing
  • Experience identifying, researching, and distilling complex national, state, and/or local regulatory issues and opportunities
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain relationships with government officials and community leaders
  • Exceptional leadership and management skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and influence cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear and compelling manner
  • Experience in AI technology, mobility, real estate, or related fields is a plus

When you join Metropolis, you'll join a team of world-class product leaders and engineers, building an ecosystem of technologies at the intersection of parking, mobility, and real estate. Our goal is to build an inclusive culture where everyone has a voice and the best idea wins. You will play a key role in building and maintaining this culture as our organization grows.
