About the Role
We are looking for candidates to support the Construction department for our US GID organization at AESC. As part of this role, you will work cross-functionally with various internal and external stakeholders, interface with customers and our Global Engineering Center to ensure the delivery of our second product, which is the factory to build the first product.
What You Will Do
This is a leadership role that involves overseeing and managing a team of construction project managers, quality, and commissioning professionals to ensure the successful execution of our battery manufacturing plants in US with the following responsibilities:
- Project Planning and Strategy:
- Develop a comprehensive project plan, including scope, schedule, and budget.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to define project requirements, specifications, and timelines.
- Participate and provide engineering and constructability feedback in design reviews of capital projects
- Develop knowledge of related basic engineering design principles, applicable design guides and standards
- Develop knowledge of relevant building codes and standard
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Cost & Schedule Management:
- Establish and manage the project budget, ensuring cost control and efficiency.
- Monitor expenditures, track financial performance, and report to senior management.
- Work with Projects control team in the creation and maintenance of the overall master schedule, monitoring progress and adjusting as necessary.
- Ensure timely completion of construction phases and effective turnover to other stake holders.
- Team Leadership and Coordination:
- Lead and supervise a multidisciplinary project team, including contractors and subcontractors.
- Recruit, train, and manage a team of construction, safety, quality, and commissioning professionals.
- Foster a collaborative work environment, ensuring effective communication among team members.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members.
- Conduct performance evaluations and identify opportunities for professional development.
- Quality Assurance and Safety:
- Implement and enforce site safety protocols.
- Develop and implement quality management systems and procedures to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry regulations and standards.
- Establish quality control processes for materials, workmanship, and project deliverables.
- Oversee the commissioning activities, including system testing, start-up, and troubleshooting.
- Ensure that all commissioning processes are carried out in accordance with industry standards, regulations, and project specifications.
- Contract Management:
- Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Ensure contractual obligations are met and resolve any disputes.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting:
- Liaise with government agencies, local authorities, and community stakeholders.
- Address any permitting or regulatory requirements.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation.
- Prepare regular progress reports for senior management and stakeholders.
- Problem Solving:
- Identify and resolve project-related issues in a timely manner.
- Make informed decisions to keep the project on track
What You Need
Candidate should possess strong technical knowledge, project management skills, leadership abilities, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You should also demonstrate a strategic mindset, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality construction projects within budget and schedule constraints.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications may be preferred.
- Proven experience as a Construction Project Manager, with a minimum of 9+ years in industrial projects, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing large-scale industrial projects.
- Extensive experience in commissioning, quality assurance, and tool installation within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Proficiency in working with corporate finance and procurement teams for approvals.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong leadership abilities, including team management and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with stakeholders, clients, and team members.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of relevant software tools and technology used in commissioning, quality assurance, and project management.
- Ability to work on-site a minimum of 4 days a week
- Understands and follows all standards of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
