SUMMARY

The Compliance Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring that our facility operates in full compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to substance abuse treatment centers. This position requires a detail-oriented professional who is knowledgeable in healthcare laws, regulations, and standards, especially those specific to addiction and mental health services. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining an effective compliance program, conducting regular audits, providing training, and acting as a liaison with regulatory bodies.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following and other duties may be assigned:

 

  • Develop and implement comprehensive compliance policies and procedures in accordance with state regulatory standard, CARF accreditation standards and JACHO accreditation standards.
  • Conduct regular and ad-hoc compliance audits to identify potential risks or non-compliance areas and develop corrective action plans.
  • Monitor changes in relevant legislation and accreditation standards and ensure timely updates to policies and procedures.
  • Provide training and education to staff on compliance issues, policies, and procedures.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all compliance-related inquiries and issues, including interactions with regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies.
  • Facilitate the investigation of compliance concerns or breaches and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on the status of the compliance program to the Executive Board and relevant committees.
  • Actively monitor and support the directors of various departments to ensure they complete their compliance-related tasks and reports in a timely and accurate manner. This includes providing guidance and resources to directors to understand and fulfill their compliance obligations, tracking progress, and reporting on compliance activities at the directorial level to ensure accountability and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Promote an organizational culture that encourages ethical conduct and a commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.  Able to navigate a computer and use basic software. 

 

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  Have a neat and clean appearance.
