Do you have financial industry experience, primarily in a call center or collections role? If so, this position may be the right fit for you The ideal candidate will comfortable and efficient in answering incoming and making outbound calls regarding members' negative share account status. We are looking for an individual who is punctual, courteous, able to follow procedures with a high attention to detail and has a desire to learn. Individual must be able to work on-site at our back office operations center in Rock Hill, SC. Remote work is not available.

The Share Recovery Probate Mitigation Specialist will research, investigate, process, and track all uncollected returned checks and negative share accounts as well as perform account closures in accordance with the Founders NSF processes. Additionally, the Share Recovery Probate Mitigation Specialists are responsible for assisting with accurately preparing, maintaining, completing probate files, and assisting with Payment Protection claims and claim payment processing.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Review and work the negative share queue as outlined by procedures daily.
  • Answer incoming and make outbound calls regarding negative share account status while maintaining professionalism and adhering to collection policies.
  • Review and work daily payroll report for account offsets.
  • Review each account and perform all necessary steps to close the share account at the designated timeframe.
  • Submit negative share and return check losses for charge off as outlined in FFCU procedures.
  • Prepare monthly reports and distribute them in a timely fashion.
  • Perform charge off transactions monthly when BOD approval has been received and distribute member loss letters as needed.
  • Identify and immediately escalate an account with suspected fraud to the fraud team for investigation.
  • Review checks submitted via Advanced Fraud Solutions and place holds as on any funds as necessary.
  • File probate claims against estates on all consumer, mortgage, and negative share balances to protect the credit union from losses.
  • Place appropriate note types and memos on deceased member account.
  • Place the deceased member account into Framework for tracking and documentation purposes.
  • Review deceased member loan account(s) for PPP Life Insurance and file claims when applicable.
  • Obtain Death Certificates from the state as needed.
  • Review Share accounts for activity and joint ownership.
  • Offset any funds on deposit to deceased member loan accounts as necessary.
  • Research and investigate potential heirs to funds on deposit.
  • Research court records for estate openings via phone when applicable.
  • Travel to core market probate courts for research of estate openings and asset searches as needed.
  • Prepare and file release of creditor’s claims on paid out estate claims.
  • Monitor account delinquency and take appropriate steps to collect from joint owners when available.
  • Track all accounts to ensure debts are moved from the decedent’s name as required by NCUA.
  • Ensure deceased member share accounts are closed in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and track estate accounts for closure.
  • Work relevant Probate and Estate Tracking reports from Framework and OnBase as necessary.
  • Build and develop strong relationships with local Probate Judges, court personnel, and attorneys within the credit unions core markets.
  • Assist branch personnel with possible probate workout situations, as needed.
  • Assist members with probate related issues, as needed.
  • Research loan information for Payment Protection Product Coverages and assist with initiating member claims via Securian’s website, documenting the member’s account, and tracking for claim payment(s).
  • Process daily payment file for claim payments and provide member and branch support with questions regarding the claims process.
  • Comply with Founders’ policies and procedures, as well applicable laws, regulations, and statutes issued by federal agencies such as NCUA and FFIEC, including, but not limited to, GLB and BSA. Employees have legal and regulatory obligations to respect and protect the privacy of information and its integrity and confidentiality.
  • Level II will assist Share Recovery/Probate Team Leader with oversight of both teams and management of daily functions in their absence.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Detail oriented, able to meet deadlines, and follow through on details with minimum supervision.
  • Previous experience with collections or handling deceased member accounts is desired.
  • Ability to understand basic Keystone functions, share products, share accounts, and loan documentation.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with members, branch personnel, attorneys, magistrates, judges, etc.
  • Ability to travel to core markets for Probate Court research as needed.

Candidate must be available Monday - Thursday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Friday 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
