POSITION OVERVIEW
Create strategy and execute tactics, as needed, to ensure Atomic Brands’ adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations related to the manufacturing, labeling, marketing, and distribution of alcoholic beverages. This role involves the development, implementation, and maintenance of compliance programs, policies, and procedures to ensure TTB compliance, mitigate risk and ensure regulatory requirements are met. Implements changes to compliance processes due to new or amended regulations. Utilizes established internal controls and auditing systems to identify, detect, and correct noncompliance. Prepares and updates communication materials. Assists with training initiatives that inform stakeholders about compliance requirements. Strategic focus, and tactical application, with compliance with a proactive methodology. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the spirits industry, a demonstrated proactive approach driving for results, team engagement & cross functional collaboration with a keen eye for detail. Some limited travel will be required. Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Monitor and interpret relevant laws and regulations from the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and other regulatory bodies.
    • Ensure all products meet legal standards for labeling, advertising, tastings/special events, and any other marketing activities.
    • Oversee and execute the submission and approval process for new product formulas, SOC’s, COLAs and mandatory requirements with regulatory agencies.
    • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Policy Development and Implementation:
    • Develop and update company policies and procedures to comply with regulatory changes and industry best practices.
    • Stay current on compliance requirements and ensure consistent application of policies with engagement from all team members and stakeholders.
    • Establish and maintain documentation for all Atomic Brands compliance activities.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify potential compliance risks and develop strategies/tactical assignments to mitigate.
    • Investigate and resolve compliance issues, including conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
    • Maintain records of compliance activities, including any complaints or investigations.
  • Communication and Reporting:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies and auditors.
    • Prepare and submit required compliance reports to regulatory authorities.
    • Communicate regulatory updates and changes to relevant departments within the company.
    • Provide regular compliance reports to senior management and the board of directors.
  • Product Development Support:
    • Collaborate with R&D, marketing, and production teams to ensure new products meet regulatory standards from inception to launch.
    • Review product formulations and ingredients for compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices.
    • Participate in industry associations and compliance forums.
    • Continuously improve the compliance program based on feedback and changes in the regulatory landscape.
    • Demonstrate SME for compliance initiatives and process for Atomic Brands
Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Organizational Development, Law, Food Science, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in regulatory compliance within the spirits, beverage, or food industry.
    • Proven track record of managing compliance programs and interacting with regulatory agencies.
    • Strong knowledge of TTB, FDA, and other relevant regulations.
    • Strong communication, team engagement, and interpersonal skills working cross functionally and with external/internal stakeholders.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
    • Proficiency in compliance management software.
