Job Summary:

The primary function of the Nurse Educator is to train and educate personnel in the long-term care center and to ensure safe effective nursing care according to federal, state, and facility guidelines, policies, and procedures.


Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that comprehensive clinical training programs are initiated at the center level for nursing staff to enhance their proficiency in delivering resident-centered care.
  • Responsible for selecting and implementing the appropriate training materials
  • Lead clinical orientation for new hires and ensure existing employees are trained on a continuous basis
  • Supervise and monitor new nursing employees throughout their individualized orientation period
  • Provide oversight to the Employee Health Program to include administering and tracking tuberculosis and hepatitis vaccines and tracking influenza immunizations for all employees.
  • Perform annual competency testing and evaluation and clinically appraise nursing staff performance to identify areas for education.
  • Establishes a culture of compliance by adhering to all facility policies and procedures. Complies with standards of business conduct, and state/federal regulations and guidelines.
  • Demonstrates effective listening skills and effective communication skills, verbally and in writing, with employees of varying levels of expertise.
  • Demonstrates positive attitude and the ability to work as a supportive team member with all departments, in committee meetings, and with employees.
  • Displays comprehensive geriatric knowledge to employees in classroom setting, in person, online, and during in-services.
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • LVN/RN License
  • Minimum of 2 years Staff Development/Educator Experience
  • 8+ years in long term care / post-acute care
  • 3+ years teaching adult learners
  • Licensed Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse (active and unrestricted)
  • CPR - Basic Life Support (American Heart Association for Provider).
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
  • Electronic Health Records
