Job Summary:
The primary function of the Nurse Educator is to train and educate personnel in the long-term care center and to ensure safe effective nursing care according to federal, state, and facility guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that comprehensive clinical training programs are initiated at the center level for nursing staff to enhance their proficiency in delivering resident-centered care.
- Responsible for selecting and implementing the appropriate training materials
- Lead clinical orientation for new hires and ensure existing employees are trained on a continuous basis
- Supervise and monitor new nursing employees throughout their individualized orientation period
- Provide oversight to the Employee Health Program to include administering and tracking tuberculosis and hepatitis vaccines and tracking influenza immunizations for all employees.
- Perform annual competency testing and evaluation and clinically appraise nursing staff performance to identify areas for education.
- Establishes a culture of compliance by adhering to all facility policies and procedures. Complies with standards of business conduct, and state/federal regulations and guidelines.
- Demonstrates effective listening skills and effective communication skills, verbally and in writing, with employees of varying levels of expertise.
- Demonstrates positive attitude and the ability to work as a supportive team member with all departments, in committee meetings, and with employees.
- Displays comprehensive geriatric knowledge to employees in classroom setting, in person, online, and during in-services.
- Other duties as assigned
- LVN/RN License
- Minimum of 2 years Staff Development/Educator Experience
- 8+ years in long term care / post-acute care
- 3+ years teaching adult learners
- Licensed Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse (active and unrestricted)
- CPR - Basic Life Support (American Heart Association for Provider).
- Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
- Electronic Health Records
