The role, at a glance:

The Production Lead acts as the subject matter expert for the end to end processes of one or more production lines within a dynamic manufacturing environment. The Lead will be able to calculate capacity needs for the shift and recommend work assignments to the supervisor, as well as adjust staffing as needed during the shift. The Lead assists with Continuous Improvement activities in the area and monitors and tracks work performance of the team, also providing regular feedback to their supervisor. 

How you'll contribute:

  • Understands daily capacity needs required to meet output goals and sets work assignments accordingly; the Lead is expected to be included in the available production capacity.  
  • Act as a subject matter expert for the end to end production process in the assigned area. 
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols, quality standards and written work instructions. Advises supervisor of any concerns with team members adherence to these standards. 
  • Responsible for leading tiered Daily Management System (DMS) meetings. 
  • Recognize opportunities for improvement within the area and encourages the team to engage in Continuous Improvement activities while being the facilitator for the team’s activities. 
  • Encourage open communication and employee engagement to help improve employee morale. 
  • Ensures all needed equipment is in the area for the employees and the equipment is ready for the following shift each day. 
  • Monitors, maintains and communicates all production issues and employee related concerns to the supervisor in a timely manner.  
  • Seeks out appropriate support resources when needed to keep production flowing. 

You'll also assist by: 

  • Assisting Training Coordinators as the area subject matter expert.  
  • Solving problems and escalating obstacles where applicable.
  • Utilizing fact-based decision making and use problem solving methodologies to improve area performance. 
  • Setting the example for the team in adhering to Biamp Behavior Expectations and following process and quality guidelines. 
  • Leading and ensuring 6S discipline throughout assigned work areas. 
  • Additional duties as assigned by your supervisor.  

A successful candidate should have:

  • Internal candidates must be at least a Production Operator II 
  • 3 or more years of related experience with a preference for experience in electrical and mechanical manufacturing
  • Must be able to work Monday through Thursday shift from 5:00am to 3:30pm 
  • General understanding of lean manufacturing principles is preferred 
  • Familiarity with computers and Windows-based applications 
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing 
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds  
  • Ability to apply reasonable conflict resolution techniques with the team and others within the company 
  • Able to multi-task and be flexible in a dynamic work environment while maintaining strong attention to detail 
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment 
  • Need to be flexible with work schedules to meet area goals 
  • Attendance is a critical function of this position 

Work environment: 

  • This is an onsite position based in Tigard, OR.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. periodically 
  • Stand or sit for long periods 
  • Perform tasks (that may be repetitive) that require reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, walking, stooping and/or bending 
  • Work in an environment that generates OSHA permissible machine noise levels 
  • Use tools that require fine hand skills 
  • Visually, observe and differentiate small moving parts 
  • Ability to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as required in designated areas
