OPPORTUNITY

The Volunteer Success Manager plays a pivotal role in leading a team of Academic Success Coordinators who provide critical support to students. This position also oversees a passionate and diverse team of volunteers throughout the organization to ensure smooth and effective operation. This includes oversight of volunteer activities such as college essay coaching for high school seniors and college transfer students, 1:1 and group tutoring, support with school-based college-prep events, and providing assistance with other organization projects. The Volunteer Success Manager must be adept at volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and placement as well as team/objective assessment and providing strategic direction.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Academic Success Coordinator team.
  • Oversee all aspects of the volunteer lifecycle including recruitment, intake, orientation, screening, placement, follow-up, and evaluation.
  • Ensure volunteers successfully complete all mandatory training and screening prior to placement.
  • Collaborate with school, community, and corporate partners to identify needs and develop volunteer opportunities.
  • Develop and implement a personalized volunteer matching model that connects individuals’ skills, interests, and personalities with the most suitable volunteer opportunities.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for volunteers to ensure they are well-equipped to support students.
  • Monitor volunteer activity and track volunteer hours.
  • Analyze program data and identify areas for continuous improvement.
  • Manage and resolve any challenges or issues related to volunteer placements.
  • Foster a positive and engaging environment for volunteers.
  • Participate in professional development activities to stay up-to-date on trends and best practices in volunteer management and education.
  • Work collaboratively with other 10,000 Degrees departments to identify volunteer opportunities and ensure effective support .
  • Assist with special events and program outreach initiatives.
  • This position requires some in-person presence and/or travel within the regions served.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Science, a related field, or relevant experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing others
  • Strong understanding of public schools and the diverse needs of students and educators
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to think strategically, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities
  • Proficient in Salesforce and Google Suite as well as online project management tools
  • Ability to travel within the Bay Area for meetings and site visits
