D-E is currently looking to fill a Aftercare Group Counselor position for their DE360 Aftercare and Enrichment (ACE) program.

This program runs Monday - Friday from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm

The position is responsible for ensuring that ACE programs are; safe, organized, and convey the mission, purpose, image, and core values of Dwight-Englewood School. This person will:


  • Lead, interact, and chaperone a group of students daily.

  • Supervise students throughout the program (in the classroom, during snack, on playgrounds, etc.)

  • Facilitate an environment for students to be respected, comfortable, and known.

  • Assist Specialists with instructional reinforcement and behavior management.

  • Meet with the Director on a regular basis for information, direction, and feedback

  • Organize and clean up materials for class activities

  • Provide material for the weekly newsletter - updates and photos.

  • Perform pick-up and drop-offs utilizing sign-in/sign-out procedures

  • Be responsible for the release of students to appropriate parent or authorized individual.

  • Keep account of each child’s schedule.

    • Report errors in attendance lists to the Director immediately.

  • Set up and prep equipment for upcoming activities and events.

  • Promote a safe and orderly environment; take all reasonable precautions to protect students, facilities, and materials.

  • Model persistent and apparent supervision of established routines and procedures.

    • This is in effect everywhere ACE is taking place; in the cafeteria, playgrounds, hallways, during specials, on field trips, and/or with visitors.

    • Work with the Director to modify and update routines and procedures.

    • Develop an awareness of developmental capabilities in order to observe and respond to students' physical, personal, emotional and hygienic needs, when necessary.

    • Report to Director student behaviors (positive & negative) and notable progress.

  • Know our health and emergency policies and treat sick or injured children as indicated. Report all injuries to the Director.

  • Communicate clearly with students throughout the afternoon: handwashing, run through of daily activities, clean up, snack, etc.

  • Serve as a source of information regarding ACE programs and schedules.

  • Chaperone field trips and/or campus activities.

  • Attend program trainings, functions and family events.

  • Display a positive attitude that is conducive to good public relations.

  • Expand job knowledge and skills by demonstrating a willingness to learn.

  • All other duties as assigned.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to supervise children by sight and sound at all times.

  • Ability to move quickly to react to safety issues.

  • Ability to move around the gym/field to assist children and supervise children with daily activities, social interaction, physical, and emotional needs.

  • Ability to lift equipment and supplies up to 30 lbs.

  • Ability to work in all elements (i.e. outside in all weather)
