Job Summary and Qualifications
The Nurse Manager provides leadership through planning, organizing, coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating the care provided to patients.

Demonstrates advanced skills in the care of emergency patients. Responsibilities encompass fiscal, human resource, and operational functions. Maintains 24-hour accountability for patient care.

The Manager performs delegated duties consistent with the scope of practice and aligns with the philosophy and overall plan of care at SMC.

The Manager fosters the growth and development of personnel by acting as a leader, mentor, resource person, negotiator, coach, and counselor.

The Manager shows positive support for the mission and values of SMC.

Provides and supervises care delivered to all age groups:
- Neonatal
- Pediatric
- Adolescent
- Adult
- Geriatric

Qualifications:
- Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse, or current active multistate Registered Nurse license.

- Current BLS, ACLS certifications through American Heart Association or American Red Cross, TNCC or TNS, and ENPC or PALS through American Heart Association required at time of hire.

- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN or Bachelor’s in a related field required.
- Minimum of 5 years of emergency nursing experience required. Minimum of 1-2 years of management experience preferred.
- Demonstrates understanding of healthcare from an organizational system perspective. Comprehensive knowledge of nursing theory and practice is essential.

- Ability to recognize the needs and concerns of customers and staff and maintain constructive relationships.

Responsible for counseling and guidance of personnel. Ability to assume twenty-four-hour responsibility for integration of patient care.

Recognized personal responsibility in striving for innovative healthcare delivery that meets contemporary needs and assumes leadership in negotiating for changes in healthcare.

Communicates effectively (verbal and written) in a positive and professional manner. Demonstrates the ability to teach in both formal and informal settings, with individuals as well as groups. Maintains current certifications and competencies. Actively participates as a member of Leadership (includes participating on a team and various committees). Responsible for the annual review process of staff.
