Position Summary The Press Operator operates various power presses that automatically feed continuous coils of metal into tooling to produce precision metal parts. The Press Operator is responsible for setting up various power presses and inspecting manufactured parts to ensure the end product meets job specifications in compliance with Northwest Stamping, Inc.’s Policy Manual, Quality Manual, Safety Manual, and Operating Procedures Manual. Fulltime position available; Monday - Friday - 40 hrs/week - $20 - $24 / hour DOE
 Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepares and calibrates machinery for production
  • Installs specified dies into presses, adjusts ram stroke of presses, and loads coils and starts material into tools
  • Operates machinery and maintains presses to meet product specifications
  • Examine and interpret blueprints and sketches for products
  • Performs visual inspection of parts to ensure product meets job specifications
  • Identify and report discrepant materials and parts per company Quality Manual
  • Calibrate and conduct repairs and modifications on machinery
  • Learns standards setup according to ISO 9001 standards, company operating procedures, and Quality Manual and performs all duties and responsibilities accordingly
  • Complies with safety regulations and housekeeping requirements as required to ensure an accident-free workplace

Education and/or Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least 3 months of related experience or training
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractures, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and communicate in writing
  • Ability to use programmable devices and operate computers to enter data; basic computer experience
  • Ability to receive and understand verbal & written instructions as well as able to communicate information to others
  • Ability to work in a diverse work environment where it is necessary to consistently be able to get along with co-workers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes, and respond appropriately to instruction or constructive critique from a supervisor.
Preferred Education & Experience
  • 1-3 years of press operating experience
Physical Requirements
  • Occasionally lifts or moves up to 50 pounds assisted or unassisted
  • Sits or stands for 8 hour shifts with or without the inclusion of the following actions: bends, kneels, crawls, stoops, reaches, climbs, and moves
  • Regularly uses hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or precision controls
  • Occasionally reaches with hands and arms extended or above head
  • Work environment is bright, and temperature controlled, and employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts
  • The nature of the work involves a high-volume environment which will always require approved ear protection; must maintain ability to talk and hear
  • Specific vision abilities (natural or corrected) required by this job include, close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
