Position Summary
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit,
charitable organization committed to strengthening community
through youth development, healthy living and social
responsibility. The VP of Mission Advancement at the Eugene Family
YMCA intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is
welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined while also
providing daily engagement, advancement, and progression of the Y's
strategic philanthropic goals.
Essential Functions

staff, volunteers, donors, partners, members, and the
community.
Directs and administers the total operation of the Philanthropy
department including the interpretation and execution of
established policies, the development of procedures and methods,
staffing, evaluation of the effectiveness of the programs and
operation.
Regularly, and frequently, is working out of the office to
cultivate and steward relationships with major donors.
Ensures that major donors are connected with the Y's cause,
impact, Board volunteers, and CEO.
Supports the CEO in their direct fundraising goals associated
with donor cultivation and stewardship.
Develops and maintains key long-term relationships with donors
and prospects
Develops organizational goals and strategic plans for
fundraising, balancing long-term direction and short-term
requirements; develops systems and manages resources, including the
financial development budget, needed to carry out the fundraising
plans; develops appropriate fundraising policies and procedures for
the association.
Develops processes and is actively involved in identifying,
cultivating and soliciting major gift prospects; maintains database
resource file on top community leaders.
Directs and coordinates association capital development, annual
campaign, sponsorship and endowment programs.
Prepares and coordinates proposals for grants from government
sources and private foundations.
Accountable for grant monitoring, compliance, and
reporting.
Actively engages the board in challenging conversations and
decision making to advance the Y's impact; develops strategies to
increase volunteer involvement at all levels of financial
development.
Tracks all gifts and pledges by source and purpose and provides
reports as needed; ensures that gifts are used for their
donor-intended purpose.
Provides training in fundraising; educates, motivates and
provides feedback to individuals related to best practices in the
fundraising process.
Creates and implements effective communication strategies with
compelling messages that inspire others to accomplish the mission
and cause with maximum impact; develops communication plans to
ensure members, participants, and the community understand the case
for support.
Develops systems and manages resources needed to carry out the
fundraising plans; establishes and monitors the financial
development department budget for the YMCA.

Works closely with the CEO and Accounting Director to develop
budgets and key financial goals.
Works closely with the CEO to track key performance indicators
and budget outcomes in ways that support the Y's financial strength
and stability.
Vigilantly stewards the Y's resources and financial goals by
monitoring budgets, striving to identify operational
inefficiencies, and providing recommendations to the CEO on areas
to allocate resources.
Closely monitors key performance indicators and financial
outcomes and provides recommendations to the CEO when variances
versus expectations are identified.
Helps create organizational best practices and systems that
remove barriers and foster equity and inclusion for all.
Handles and resolves concerns or questions in an empathetic and
professional manner; informs supervisor of unusual situations or
unresolved issues.
Participates in various standing committees and temporary task
forces as needed.
Within 90 days of hire, completion of the following mandatory
trainings): First Aid, CPR/AED, Blood Borne Pathogen, Workplace
Discrimination and Harassment Prevention, and Child Abuse
Prevention.
Must maintain a current, valid Oregon driver's license, a DMV
driving record that meets YMCA standards, and evidence of
insurability throughout entire term of
employment.
Protects organization's value by keeping information
confidential always.
Performs other duties as assigned by the CEO.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires four years of training in relevant areas and related
fields beyond high school
At least 4.5 years of directly relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
YMCA Multi-Team Leader certification preferred for hire and
required within 3 years of acceptance in the position if not
achieved prior to hire
Experience leading annual campaigns in excess of
$500,000
Experience leading capital campaigns in excess of
$10,000,000
Verbal and written fluency in Spanish
