UCT is looking for a talented Senior NPI Manager to join us in Austin, TX

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support Quotation Process and push associated team members for closure.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the introduction of new products, from complex subsystems to full turn-key process modules following UCT’s NPI process.
  • Direct interaction with customers on product development, transition, and production release.
  • Communication and coordination focal for all internal and external customers.
  • Evaluate new opportunities with respect to preliminary business discussions.
  • Maintain project status, timeline, and budget.
  • Drive and promote an environment supporting continuous improvement through creative problem solving and judicious application of technology.
  • Use Critical Thinking to find solutions and prevent delays.
  • Drive customer to process and hold them accountable to their deliverables.
  • Direct interaction with DE resources as part of the extended team.
  • Be the overall responsible point of contact know the project extremely well and understand the critical path items and drive these for success.
  • Know the key customer points of concern and drive the org to respond to these through your direct efforts.
  • Use escalations proactively to prevent missing targets and goals.
  • Drive a sense of urgency and do not allow complacency regardless of the status of the project. If we are ahead…how much further ahead can we pull? If behind-how do, we recover and prevent delay…etc.
  • Drive the team on Clear to Build understanding and address any shortages aggressively.
  • Support further process development.
  • Be a source of ideas and improved concept vs. being critical of the current situation.
  • Know how to manage “transparency” with the customer. Manage your issues and prevent the customer from having to do this for you through micro-management. Share what we need to share but keep our “laundry” as ours.
  • Pre communicate significant changes and other challenging customer communication items with the Sr. Dir NPI and Site Leadership
  • Focus on the customer need by date.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Professional Program Management Cert is a plus.
  • Possesses a critical thinking mindset to look for potential gaps and risk.
  • Self-starter and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Results-oriented and adept at conflict resolution.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Prior experience in design and system-level troubleshooting.
  • NPI experience preferred with knowledge of PLC (product life cycle).
  • Experience in cleanroom manufacturing environment desired.
  • Computer literacy, proficiency with MS Office, Project and/or Smartsheet, and CAD.
  • English/Mandarin proficiency desired (required for Asia locations).
  • English for US locations.

Educational/Certification Requirement:

  • Professional PM certification strongly desired.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, or equivalent degree/work experience in a related technical field.

Experience Requirement:

Work Experience:

  • Experience with engineering positions in design, manufacturing, or test.
  • 5+ years program management experience in medical, semiconductor, energy, research, or related capital equipment industries.
  • Experience in capital equipment manufacturing in the semiconductor, energy, research, or related industries is preferred.
  • Strong track record in managing successful NPI programs.

Management Experience:

  • Looking for someone with leadership experience with direct or indirect teams.

Work Environment:

  • May spend time in Clean Room Environment as needed to press for on time delivery.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to move arms, hands, and fingers.
  • Ability to sit for sustained periods.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment.
  • Prolonged sitting with some standing and bending intermittently during work hours.
  • Subject to interruptions.

Environmental Exposure:

  • Required to wear personal protective equipment where applicable.
  • Subject to frequent interruptions.
  • The ability to talk on the phone and use a computer for extended periods may be required.
  • May involve exposure to moderate noise levels from printers, faxes, computers, etc.

Overnight Travel:

  • Work may require out-of-town travel depending upon assignment (training and meeting).

Some international travel can be expected for customer meetings, events.
