Job Title: Retail Sales Manager

Department: Military Sales

Reports To: Territory or Base Manager

Status: Part Time





Primary Purpose: As a Merchandiser working within military commissaries and exchanges, your role would encompass a wide range of responsibilities related to managing products and optimizing sales within these retail environments. Merchandisers collaborate with Territory or Base Manager to identify products that need on shelf attention such as stocking, re-ordering, proper planogram placement and checklists for assigned product lines or categories.

Inventory Management:

  • Monitor inventory levels and product availability in commissaries or exchanges.

Planogram:

  • Implement planograms and visual merchandising displays for product placement within the stores.

Promotions and Marketing:

  • Execute assigned promotional strategies to drive sales and increase product awareness.
  • Collaborate with Territory or Base Manager and DeCA or Exchange management to design and implement in-store marketing campaigns, including signage, displays, and product demonstrations.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of promotions and adjust strategies based on performance data.

Stocking

  • Regularly replenish and restock products supplied by S&K Sales on the shelves.
  • Ensure products are correctly displayed according to the planograms and merchandising guidelines provided by the commissary management or S&K Sales.
  • Maintain the proper arrangement and organization of products to optimize shelf space and enhance product visibility.
  • Communicate with commissary management or relevant personnel to provide input on inventory needs and restocking requirements.
  • Implement the "first in, first out" (FIFO) method to ensure older products are sold before newer ones.
  • Monitor product expiration dates and remove expired items from the shelves promptly.

Product Presentation:

  • Ensure that products are appropriately priced, labeled, and tagged with relevant information (e.g., nutritional facts, promotions).
  • Maintain a clean and organized appearance for the product displays and shelves.

Building Relationships:

  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with commissary management and staff.
  • Communicate regularly with commissary personnel to stay informed about any changes or special requirements.

Sales Analysis:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with store management within the commissaries and exchanges.
  • Collaborate with various teams, such as procurement, marketing, and store managers, to align strategies and achieve mutual goals.

Compliance:

  • Adhere to all commissary rules, regulations, and safety protocols while working on the premises.
  • Ensure compliance with any specific requirements or guidelines set forth by the military retailer and installation command.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work Hours: Ability to work in various shifts and days; to include holidays.

Conditions: Extended periods possible in Chill or Frozen storage areas or outside

conditions as needed.

Equipment Use:

  • Ability to have access to email.
  • Personal phone with text and email.
  • Hand truck, six wheel / flatbed trolleys.
  • Scanners
  • Various pricing devices

Mental and Physical Demands:

  • Possess excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
  • Must be able to work independently without supervision as part of cohesive team.
  • Ability to sit and stand for periods of time.
  • Ability to carry 40 pounds.

Ability to perform tasks requiring kneeling, bending and grasping overhead

Other Duties:

  • Ability to adapt to procedural and workflow changes.
  • May be involved in cross training in other areas of operations.
