Job DescriptionJob Description

The Project Quality Engineer is responsible for improving the capability and reliability of BAC’s products and processes. The primary role of this person is serving as customer Quality liaison for key accounts and large strategic projects after shipment. Key activities include responding to customer concerns and driving non-conformance, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes, correcting engineering related information and documentation, and leading product improvement projects. This position will work closely with regional and global teams to identify product concerns and to address them accordingly. This Engineer uses a data-based approach to work with the other areas of the business to ensure the highest quality product is passed along to the customer and all project quality requirements are achieved.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Maintain communication with customer sites and monitor ongoing delivery and quality performance for assigned projects
  • Review project Specifications and develop Inspection and Test Plans to align with customer project requirements
  • Drive the Corrective Actions Process including mentoring of other groups in root cause analysis
  • Manage and analyze data on field and internal defects to support improvement project selection
  • Participate in and lead product and process correction and improvement projects
  • Provide quality input for new and existing product platforms
  • Provide support to global regions related to quality improvements and product changes
  • Prepare reports as necessary or requested to show performance to plans
  • Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required
  • Participate in programs essential to BAC culture, e.g., workplace and worker safety, housekeeping, continuous improvement, security, and compliance to all legal and ethical standards
  • Compliance to all local, regional, national, company, and all other applicable standards, laws, and procedures.

NATURE AND SCOPE

The Quality Engineer will report to the Project Management Lead and this role will have interactions with all levels of the organization, BAC factories, suppliers, and customers, including potential for travel to worldwide locations and customer job sites. The Project Quality Engineer can sit in either Dayton, TN or Jessup, MD location.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • A four-year degree in Engineering, or other Technical Degree with significant coursework in Engineering or Quality principles
  • 5 years of experience in a Quality role with focus on customer satisfaction and delivered product quality a plus
  • Advanced training or experience in statistical tools and analysis and strategic metrics
  • Experience in tools related to Reliability Management, Root Cause Analysis, Six Sigma, Project management, or TQM
  • Possess excellent customer service skills with strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Negotiate through difficult issues without losing composure
  • Detail oriented and high sense of urgency
  • Possess or have ability to gain thorough knowledge of BAC products and manufacturing processes including new products, incomplete designs, and non-standard applications
  • Cross functional effectiveness including but not limited to engineering, sales, applications, manufacturing
