Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPosition Overview:

The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for managing complex data, overseeing FMLA, ADA compliance, Workers' Compensation, and maintaining OSHA logs. This role also manages tuition remission and exchange programs, administers the College's 403(b) plan, leads the implementation of the learning management system, and plays an integral part in the College’s safety committee, ensuring a safe and compliant working environment for all employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Management:
    • Maintain complex employee data in HR data systems.
    • Modify processes and systems as necessary to meet the College’s needs.
    • Generate queries and analyze data for accuracy.
    • Generate reports and analytics to support HR and College decision-making.
    • Ensure data integrity and confidentiality of employee records.
  • FMLA Administration:
    • Manage Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) requests.
    • Ensure compliance with federal and state FMLA regulations.
    • Provide guidance to employees and managers on FMLA processes and policies.
  • ADA Compliance:
    • Coordinate and manage the interactive process for reasonable accommodations.
    • Ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ADA regulations and best practices.
  • Workers' Compensation:
    • Manage and oversee the Workers' Compensation claims process.
    • Coordinate with insurance carriers and healthcare providers.
    • Ensure timely and accurate reporting and record-keeping of incidents.
  • OSHA Log Maintenance:
    • Maintain and update OSHA logs to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
    • Conduct regular audits to verify the accuracy of OSHA records.
  • Tuition Remission and Exchange:
    • Administer the College’s tuition remission and exchange programs.
    • Provide information and support to employees regarding eligibility and application processes.
    • Ensure compliance with program guidelines and maintain accurate records.
  • 403(b) Plan Administration:
    • Oversee the daily administration of the College’s 403(b) retirement plan.
    • Assist employees with enrollment, changes, and inquiries related to the 403(b) plan.
    • Ensure compliance with federal regulations and plan policies.
  • Learning Management System:
    • Lead the implementation of the learning management system (LMS).
    • Assign courses, develop new courses, and manage LMS content.
    • Provide training and support to employees and managers on LMS use.
  • Safety Committee Participation:
    • Serve as a key member of the College's safety committee.
    • Participate in safety committee meetings and initiatives.
    • Assist in developing and implementing safety policies and procedures.
  • Employee and Leader Support:
    • Answer questions and provide guidance to employees and leaders on HR policies, procedures, and programs.
    • Serve as a resource for resolving HR-related issues and concerns.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
    • SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources, with a focus on data management, compliance, and employee relations.
    • Experience in FMLA, ADA, Workers' Compensation, OSHA compliance, tuition remission, retirement plan administration, and LMS implementation required.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
    • Proficient in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
