SUMMARY STATEMENT
Lead the Museum's youth engagement strategy, overseeing on-site programming and fostering dynamic connections with local teens. Drive recruitment, training, and support for youth volunteers, interns, and part-time staff. Partner with high schools and lead youth events like the High School Science Series to enrich teen involvement and co-create engaging content.

DIMENSIONS

  • STEM Programming: Teach 1-2 days per week across all education channels.
  • Staff Supervision: Mentor and supervise 1-2 full-time staff, up to 20 youth interns, and 8-14 teen part-time staff annually.
  • Training Delivery: Develop and deliver 10 youth training sessions annually.
  • High School Partnerships: Manage relationships and programming with 1-2 partner high schools.
  • Event Management: Lead 4-6 High School Science Series events, plus 1-3 additional youth programs annually.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with STEM content and informal education best practices.
  • Work Schedule: Regular weekend, holiday, and evening work required.

ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENTS

  2. Youth Engagement: Recruit, train, and supervise youth staff to ensure effective program delivery and high-quality service.

  4. Event Leadership: Organize and execute youth-focused events and science fairs, collaborating with internal teams for impactful experiences.
  5. Professional Growth: Engage in ongoing learning to keep youth programs diverse and relevant, incorporating feedback from partners and experts.
  6. Community Collaboration: Support Museum-wide DEAI initiatives to ensure inclusive and welcoming experiences for all visitors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Science or Arts.
  • Experience: 5+ years in STEM Education, Informal Education, or Volunteer Coordination.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency in science and technology education.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing multiple tasks and events.

SPECIAL SKILLS

  • Experience mentoring high school students.
  • STEM content knowledge.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to drive in various settings.
  • English and Spanish proficiency.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Lift/Carry: Frequently lift and carry up to 35 lbs.
  • Push/Pull: Frequently push/pull up to 150 lbs.
