Job Summary

The Quality Assurance Nurse plays a pivotal role in achieving clinical excellence for Highmark Senior Living. This role is integral to ensuring that the Edencrest senior living communities and it’s employees adhere to established standards, regulations, and policies. This role involves monitoring clinical compliance, implementing quality improvement programs, providing employee training, managing risks, and ensuring proper documentation and reporting. The QA Nurse reports directly to the Regional Director of Clinical but collaborates with various departments to promote a culture of compliance and quality and stays updated on regulatory changes to maintain the highest standards of resident care and community operations.

Essential Functions

  • Compliance Monitoring:
    • Regularly review and update facility policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
    • Conduct audits and inspections to ensure adherence to healthcare laws and standards.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Develop and implement quality improvement programs and initiatives.
    • Monitor and evaluate the quality of patient care and services through monthly QA audits
    • Collect and analyze data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Staff Training and Education:
    • Provide training and education to healthcare staff on compliance and quality assurance standards.
    • Develop educational materials and conduct training sessions.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify potential risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.
    • Investigate incidents and complaints and implement corrective actions.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain detailed and accurate records of compliance and quality assurance activities.
    • Prepare and submit reports to regulatory agencies and management.
  • Policy Development:
    • Assist in the development and revision of policies and procedures.
    • Ensure that policies are effectively communicated and implemented across the facility.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with other healthcare professionals and departments to promote a culture of compliance and quality.
    • Participate in committee meetings and provide input on quality improvement initiatives.
  • Regulatory Updates:
    • Stay updated on changes in healthcare laws and regulations.
    • Ensure that the facility is informed of and compliant with new regulatory requirements.
    • Perform any other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience:

  • At least two years of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) , preferably in a senior living, long-term care, or geriatric care setting with a focus on training/compliance.
  • RN license from the state.
  • Completion of a state-approved associate or bachelor’s degree program in nursing.
  • Passing a state licensing examination.
  • In-depth knowledge of senior regulations, accreditation standards, and quality assurance principles for independent living, assisted living, and memory care.
  • Ability to analyze data and identify trends or areas for improvement.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills with the ability to inspire and motivate the clinical team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, can effectively articulate the value proposition of senior living.
  • Empathy, patience, and compassion for seniors and their families navigating the transition to senior living.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in PCC software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other sales tools.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including most evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Passion for making a positive difference in seniors' lives and contributing to the community's success.
