OPPORTUNITY

This is a unique opportunity to be the Sous Chef for our new Boston location. This position will direct and oversee all food menu development, quality, execution, hiring and training for our emerging brand. This is a ground floor opportunity for someone to help create the food foundation and kitchen systems to potentially be applied to multiple outlets in the brand's developmental years including setting best in class food quality standards.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Executive Chef, as Sous Chef, you'll be the right hand to the Executive Chef, playing a key role in the success of our kitchen operations. You'll wear many hats, from overseeing food preparation and staff to assisting with menu development and ensuring the highest quality of service for our guests. We are currently in the menu development phase for our US operations so initially there will be a heavy focus on recipe writing, order guide setup and production system design. You will establish procedures and manage consistency for delivery of food product that meets all goals related to budgets and KPI matrixes for: revenue, cost, margins, profit, guest satisfaction/NPS, staff engagement, audits and safety. You will be an instrumental part of the unit leadership team and will promote a positive, productive, and efficient workplace environment.

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Head Chef in all aspects of kitchen operations, including menu planning, recipe development, and inventory management.
  • Oversee and supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards.
  • Ensure all food safety and sanitation procedures are followed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Order and receive food supplies.
  • Assist with scheduling and staffing.
  • Be a team player and create a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Step up and take on additional responsibilities as needed.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Excellent culinary skills and knowledge of cooking techniques.
  • ServSafe certification and understanding of local health department regulations.
  • Strong understanding of food cost and portion control.
  • Two or more years of experience working in a professional kitchen, preferably in a similar role.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for food and a desire to create exceptional dining experiences.
  • Ability to train and ensure proficiency quickly for large teams during new store opening training.
  • Need to possess a current sanitation certificate or equivalent as well as any other local certifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office/365 and other software package experience as you will assist with building the inventory and recipe database

Minimum Education Requirements / Certification:

Degree or Certificate in Culinary Arts/Hospitality Management or equivalent preferred
