  • Typical schedule for this position is 8:30 a.m. CT to 5:30 p.m. CT.
  • This position is hybrid, requiring attendance in the Oak Brook, IL office three days per week. If the candidate resides outside of Illinois, the position will be remote, but they must be able to come to Oak Brook, IL for quarterly meetings.

HOW YOU WILL SOAR:

The Senior Payroll Specialist will report to the Payroll Manager in the Finance Department. This role is responsible for processing bi-weekly payroll in an efficient and accurate manner. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, possess excellent organization skills, and operate accurately in a fast-paced environment.

  • Independently process accurate bi-weekly payroll for 1,500+ employees under strict deadlines

  • Process special payrolls as needed (i.e., annual & quarterly bonuses and one-off payrolls.)

  • Input garnishments and correspond with agency

  • Assist in the development of payroll processes and procedures

  • Balance payroll accounting journal entries

  • Liaison with Accounting, HR, IT and FP&A teams

  • Update ongoing payroll process (new hire, termination, LOA, payroll checklist, etc.)

  • Add new taxes to payroll system (state, city, county, etc.)

  • Set up new tax jurisdictions (state, city, county, etc.

  • Maintain secure and confidential payroll files

  • Ensure any payroll errors are resolved in a timely manner

  • Determine root cause of payroll error by collecting and analyzing data

  • Adjust team member’s checks as authorized by the team member or management (401k, medical benefits, LOA, etc.)

  • Assist employees with payroll questions

  • Other duties as assigned

IF YOU HAVE SOME OR ALL OF THE FOLLOWING, APPLY:

  • Bachelors Degree Preferred

  • 3-5 years of applicable experience

  • 3+ years multi state payroll experience

  • Fundamental Payroll Professional (FCP) preferred

  • Experience with ADP and/or Paylocity is a plus

  • Experience with payroll system integration

  • Experience with pay practices and labor laws

  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles including payroll, payroll taxes and general ledger reconciliations

  • Ability to work independently

  • Possess a strong sense of urgency

  • Excellent organization and time management skills

  • Operate efficiently with a high degree of accuracy

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook

  • Strong written and verbal communication

  • Act as a team player with a positive attitude
