Summary/Objective

The Project Manager, Purple X, works with the Special Projects Team and reports to the Special Projects Director. The Project Manager helps develop and implement new processes and policies that support completion and compliance of project related activities. The Project Manager will partner closely with funders, including Cook County, and does year-round workshops and events. In between programs and events, this person will be assisting in planning effective recruiting practices, reports, analyzing data and making program improvements. This role must ensure that all processes and policies are always adhered to. This position routinely handles highly sensitive and/or confidential information and will represent CEDA in a variety of capacities. Must demonstrate good judgment, an ability to be approachable and professional, solid problem-solving skills, an ability to handle multiple tasks, an ability to be self- motivated and well organized, and maintain strict confidentiality.

Essential Functions

  • Assist Deputy Director/Director with the Purple X Project and identifying and setting goals for various project components and monitoring outcomes for necessary adjustments.
  • Work in partnership with Link Further, of the Vent Program, for the overall management of the Purple X Project. This includes working with licensed clinical therapists, school districts, high school students and young adults, and other professional based organizations and local government.
  • Ensure the daily operations of Purple X and special projects are achieving outputs and maximizing desired outcomes for the operational efficiencies of the projects needs and requirements.
  • In partnership with the Special Projects Director, plans various stages of project design, implementation and compliance by prioritizing and organizing activities and resources to achieve project objectives and assist with recruiting students and young adults for the Vent Program and additional workshops that may be offered throughout the program year.
  • Data collection and analysis
  • Evaluate potential problems and technical hitches and develop solutions for review by the Special Projects Director.
  • Ability to design, implement, track and report trends related to assigned project goals, objectives and needs to create growth and operational efficiencies of future projects.
  • Attend training and professional development to ensure the technical integrity and regulated guidance and compliance of the policies and procedures related to commonly assigned projects.
  • Participate in project design meetings and propose improvements as necessary.
  • Manage project-related documents, ensuring all required materials are current and organized; ensures community is aware of all CEDA services.
  • Keeps all new projects in line with the company’s mission and maintains consistency with the agency’s message and brand.
  • Maintains record and data systems for tracking projects monitoring compliance issues and evaluating/reporting results.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position assists with supervising ongoing and special projects but has no direct supervision of staff. However, there will be supervision of program participants from 14 to 24 years of age. Oversees volunteers and manages their contributions.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee works mostly in an office environment that is quiet to moderately loud, depending on the work area. Some local, county, or state travel may be required, including overnight stays. Employee is required to sit, use hands, stand, stoop, walk, talk, and listen while performing duties. General office equipment including personal computers, scanners, copiers, faxes, desk- and smartphones, and software programs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds. Requires normal range of hearing/vision.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work/Travel

This is a two (2) year assignment, but the position can be reduced or extended based on funding and needs of the organization. It is a professional position required to work a full-time work week, as designated by the CEDA Employee Handbook, with periodic longer hours, including potential evenings, weekends, and odd hours. This position will require a work week of Tuesday through Saturday as its regularly scheduled hours. Occasional travel of distance may be required. Must have reliable transportation. If using personal vehicle or CEDA owned vehicle, must possess and maintain an applicable Driver License, clean driving record, and Auto Insurance that meets the State requirements.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Services or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful project administration/coordination in the non-profit/impact or analytics environment.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in community engagement and community organizing.

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Master’s degree in applicable area a plus.
  • Experience in a nonprofit, social service organization, or a Community Based Organization.
  • Experience working with various socioeconomic populations.
  • Understanding of the Harvey community, its history, and unique character.
  • Bilingual language abilities are strongly preferred (English/Spanish).
