Reports To: Lifecycle Engineering Manager

The Lifecycle Project Engineer is a multidisciplinary position responsible for managing and executing projects focused on cost reduction, supplier development and supply chain continuity. This position requires business management skills, a solid understanding of purchasing systems and the technical aspects of manufacturing processes.

The Lifecycle Project Engineer is part of the Lifecycle Engineering Team, which focuses on stewardship of existing products and design transfer activities for new products.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering from ABET accredited institution
  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing & supplier management capacity in a technical industry. Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal office hours as business needs dictate. Able to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and experience. Ability to lead project teams in a cross-functional matrix, work proactively, prioritize work effectively, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Expertise with business systems (ERP, MRP, PDM) and their integration.
  • Capable of reading engineering drawings & translating product requirements to suppliers.
  • Demonstrated analytical capability (statistical analysis, data driven decision-making, etc.)

Job Responsibilities

  • Primary responsibility for year-over-year supplier-focused project strategy & execution.
  • Works closely with engineering, quality and manufacturing to define strategy and supporting project list focused on cost reduction, on-time delivery (OTD), supply chain continuity, quality, etc.
  • Manage & execute supplier-focused project list to completion, ensuring necessary skills and resources are effectively applied and delivering to plan.
  • Lead engineering team to proactively identify and qualify alternative components to ensure supply chain continuity
  • Develop & maintain strategic supplier relationships to meet year-over-year cost reduction targets. Engages key suppliers to initiate appropriate improvement programs to achieve and sustain high levels of performance and cost containment.
  • Conduct onsite technical assessments with the buyers, quality, and engineering teams to drive supplier improvement.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to support the company goals and participate in the Quality Planning Process

  • Experience working in an ISO9001:2015 QMS system
  • 6-sigma Green Belt certification (Black Belt preferred)
  • Knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or Mandarin
