Responsibilities and Duties

The Director of Sales is a key executive responsible for leading the sales efforts of a hotel to drive revenue growth and achieve business objectives. Their primary job is to develop and execute strategic sales plans to attract guests and maximize revenue across all revenue-generating departments of the hotel.

  • Developing Sales strategies: Create and implement effective sales strategies to maximize revenue and occupancy rates for the hotel

  • Generating Leads: Identify and pursue new business opportunities by actively seeking out potential clients and generating leads through various channels such as cold calling, networking, and attending industry events.

  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients to foster repeat business and referrals.

  • Sales Team Management: Lead, motivate, and manage the sales team to achieve sales targets and objectives.

  • Market Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, competitive activities, and opportunities for growth.

  • Sales Forecasting and Budgeting: Develop sales forecasts and budgets, monitor performance against targets, and take corrective actions as necessary to ensure revenue goals are met.

  • Collaboration with Other Departments: Work closely with other departments such as revenue management, and operations to ensure alignment of sales efforts with overall hotel objectives.

  • Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts with clients, ensuring terms are favorable and in line with hotel policies and standards.

  • Sales Reporting: Prepare regular sales reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting key metrics, trends, and performance indicators.

Qualifications

  • Strong leadership skills to effectively lead and motivate a sales team.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively present ideas and negotiate with clients.

  • Strong analytical skills to interpret sales data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.

  • In-depth knowledge of the hospitality industry, including market trends, competitor analysis, and sales techniques.

  • A customer-centric approach with a commitment to delivering exceptional service and exceeding customer expectations.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, brand platforms, and other sales or lead generation programs required.
