JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: JHMR Rental General Manager

Reports To: Retail Director

Date: 08/19/2024 Department: Retail Overhead

Classification: FT/YR

FLSA Status: Exempt

General Purpose:

The Rental GM is responsible for the strategic coordination of JHMR rental operations through oversight of rental operating efficiencies, creating best practices, managing inventories, purchasing and reporting to maximize rental profitability.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate with Sales team to find and develop new sales channels/partnerships to increase rental market share.
  • Coordinate with RTP team for effective wholesale fulfillment, pricing and communication.
  • Develop and implement consistent rental item entry procedures for all rental locations.
  • Develop and manage rental item reporting procedures including but not limited to inventory, overdue lists, rental utilization, and incomplete forms.
  • Mange in-store rental/demo inventories and fleet locations to maximize utilization.
  • Coordinate with Rental Managers to ensure all rental warranties are completed properly.
  • Manage and oversee creating and maintaining rental products in POS software.
  • With Retail Director, create and analyze rental buy utilization numbers, inventory needs and purchases to maximize rental efficiencies and performance.
  • Develop repair shop rental/demo tuning protocol and reporting on metrics.
  • Manage rental/demo fleet testing procedures and injury reporting.
  • Coordinate J Store rental setup and sales with POS software team.
  • Complete all rental/demo invoicing and coding for approval and payment by Retail Director.
  • Create consistent rental procedures to be implemented by Rental Managers/Supervisors across all JHMR outlets.
  • Mange mid-season and end of season rental inventories and running metrics and analytics on these inventories to improve operational efficiencies of rental operations.
  • Coordinate end of season bulk sale of used rental items.
  • Manage preseason ski mounts and rental shop setup alongside Rental Manager team.
  • Works with Store GM’s and Rental Managers to implement and execute successful of all aspects of rental operations.
  • Extract, analyze and report on key metrics of rental inventory usage for the cost-effective rental fleet purchase.
  • Oversee Mountain Direct Rental Delivery operations.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Work on the rental floors during peak rental times.
  • Work POS as needed
  • Work as a rental technician and delivery staff as needed.

  • RTP experience and knowledge.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven leadership and people management skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Overall knowledge of rental business.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive in varying road/weather conditions.
  • Proficient knowledge of skis, snowboards, and bikes for rental operational success.
  • Strong ability to extract, analyze and report on key metrics from a variety of data sources.
  • Ability to make data driven decisions

APPROXIMATE OPERATING BUDGET: $15 million

Work Environment

  • This job operates is a 70/30 split of office vs shop work which the split varying seasonally. Most work is completed in an indoor environment. Occasional work in an outdoor environment, which may cause exposure to extreme temperatures and varying weather.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time performing repetitive motions with hands to grasp, reach, push, and pull with extensive use of fingers to complete detailed repair work.
  • Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching is required to move equipment around the shop.
  • Hearing, speaking, visual acuity, and reading ability to receive detailed information through oral and written communication at normal speaking level.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

  • This job is a year-round full-time role and typically works during shop business hours, which can be from early in the morning to later in the evening. Shops are open 7 days per week and the schedule may require work on any day of the week, including weekends and holidays. Schedules and hours may fluctuate depending on business needs.

Required Education or Formal Training:

  • High school or GED
  • Minimum of 1 year rental shop management experience
  • Prior experience and proven success in ski shops and rental delivery management.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or related field.
  • Prior experience with RTP rental software program.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Ski Resort Rental management.
