Our client, an engineering firm specializing mechanical, electrical and plumbing design within multi-family homes and hotels, is seeking an Accountant to join their team. Our client, an engineering firm specializing in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design within multi-family homes and hotels, is seeking an Accountant to join their team. This position reports to senior management and is responsible for key responsibilities such as reconciling accounts, preparing accurate financial statements, and contributing to strategic planning efforts.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 2 years of full-cycle accounting experience, cost accounting exposure, and be proficient in QuickBooks. Experience in the Construction, Engineering, or related industry is preferred. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently are essential for success in this role.

Accountant Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile and maintain general ledger accounts and supporting documents.
  • Oversee all accounting functions, including invoicing, A/R, A/P, and GL.
  • Handle collection calls and follow-ups as needed.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and monthly financial reports.
  • Submit year-end financial statements to the CPA and assist with financial audits.
  • Manage contract files and enter employee timesheets.
  • Support and coordinate with other clerical staff.

Accountant Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of full cycle accounting experience, including cost accounting knowledge.
  • Associate degree in accounting is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and QuickBooks required.
  • Construction or any AEC or related experience is a plus.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated, deadline-driven, and able to work independently.
