Job Title: Staff Accountant

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Staff Accountant to join our team in Lynnwood, WA. This is a 12-week contract position at our client location.

Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant will play a critical role in the accounting department by performing a wide range of accounting and financial tasks. This role involves preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts, assisting with audits, and supporting month-end and year-end closing processes. The Staff Accountant ensures the accuracy of financial records and compliance with relevant laws and regulations, working closely with senior accounting staff and other departments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Account Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts, identifying discrepancies and ensuring accurate financial data.
  • General Ledger Maintenance: Record and review journal entries, ensuring that transactions are posted correctly in the accounting system.
  • Month-End and Year-End Close: Assist with the month-end and year-end closing processes by preparing and reviewing key reports and adjusting entries.
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable: Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment tracking, and aging reports.
  • Tax Compliance: Assist in the preparation of tax filings and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Audit Support: Provide support during internal and external audits, ensuring proper documentation and information flow.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts by gathering financial data and providing input based on historical performance.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and increase efficiency within the department.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and other relevant financial regulations.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: 2-3 years of experience in accounting or a related financial role; experience in public accounting or corporate finance is a plus.
  • Certifications: CPA or CPA candidate preferred but not required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, NetSuite) and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and general accounting principles.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail when preparing financial records.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify financial discrepancies and inefficiencies.

Compensation: $30-$35/hour DOE
