Key Responsibilities:

Under the supervision and the direction of the Marine Inspector II, performs the routine, inactivation, activation, disposal inspections and those requiring certifications, hazardous materials, and radiation, etc. Makes written reports and inspections as required. Must have thorough knowledge of sampling plans. Shall perform the QA surveillance monitoring tasks as stated in the QA Program Manual. Shall be familiar with sampling plans, statistics, AQLs, noncompliance reporting and other evaluation procedures. Shall analyze results and report findings to QA Manager.


MAJOR ACTIVITIES PERFORMED:


  1. Conduct scheduled routine inspections on all vessels in the inventory (e.g., fire and flooding alarms; integrity and security; hull preservation; CO2 bottles; cathodic protection; and dehumidification).
  1. Performs quality assurance inspections of ongoing and completed work and follows up to ensure corrective actions are completed.
  1. Train ship's force in proper inactivation and lay-up of equipment, systems, and ship spaces.
  1. Plan and conduct compartment closeout inspections in conjunction with ship's force personnel during the decommissioning process.
  1. Inspect equipment removals, cannibalization/stripping removals and work performed by the Maintenance Department to ensure quality workmanship and safety and security of the job site.
  1. Demonstrate a working knowledge of and proficiency in using the alarm systems and Remote Transmitter Unit (RTU) systems.
  1. Knowledge of Service Craft and Boat Accounting Report/Craft and Boat Support System (SABBR/CBSS) and Maintenance Readiness (MR) systems.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be a licensed driver.
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience working on civilian or military oceangoing vessels. Proficient in MS Office applications.

Preferred:

  • Associate degree or equivalent.
  • Certified as a Shipyard Competent Person, and
  • Five (5) years of ship maintenance inspections experience or relevant inspection experience in the military.

Note: Additional consideration will be given to candidates with a strong background in ship maintenance inspection or military inspection experience.
