Job Summary

The Biotech Student Researcher supports research and development efforts in areas including medical device development, biomaterials characterization, and pharmaceutical delivery. This roll is expected to execute laboratory experiments, provide basic interpretation of data, and contribute to activities across multiple projects, such as the development and characterization of sprayable hydrogels to prevent postoperative adhesion formation, dissolvable microneedles for transdermal delivery of vaccines, and/or radiation-resistant material packaging solutions to stabilize medications for space travel. This position requires a commitment of at least 15hrs per week beginning October 16th thru December 31, 2024. Primary responsibilities and duties associated with this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Executes laboratory experiments using predetermined protocols.
  • Communicates results and experimental challenges at team meetings and through clear and timely write-ups.
  • Supports technical projects across multiple program managers and program areas.
  • Implements state-of-the-art knowledge from the scientific community through literature searches.
  • Maintains a well-documented laboratory notebook.
  • Demonstrates and promotes safety in the laboratory space.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2nd to 4th students who are actively working towards a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering, Biomedical Sciences, Materials Science and Engineering, or related field
  • At least 1-year relevant laboratory research and development experience.
  • Basic technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to a minimum of 15hrs per workweek
  • Due to government contracting regulations, U.S. Citizenship is a firm requirement

Work Environment:

  • Duties may occasionally be completed remotely using secure company equipment and software, at the supervisor's discretion.
  • Occasional travel to client sites, conferences, and related events may be required.
  • The role involves working in a laboratory environment and interacting with technical staff.
