The Finance Authority of Maine (FAME) is a quasi-independent state agency that develops and administers programs related to the financing of both higher education and business in the State of Maine. FAME provides targeted financial tools, information and solutions to help grow Maine’s economy and enable Maine residents to take advantage of opportunities to further their education.


FAME is seeking a knowledgeable, driven, and compassionate individual to become part of our Business Team as a Commercial Loan Assistant. The individual in this position provides support and assistance to the Commercial Loan Officers administering our commercial loan programs. This includes drafting authorizations, commitment letters, note revisions, extensions, etc. The position works closely with the legal department to obtain approval on documents before they are provided to the lender’s and/or borrowers. Additionally, this role maintains credit files, essential document files, service accounts, and databases to ensure compliance with loan documentation and efficient administration of the programs. The individual is also responsible for greeting and assisting customers on the phone, in person or via email. Ensure customer issues are handled in a timely and accurate manner with a high degree of professionalism resulting in customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will posses the skills to work both independently and on a team, be able to communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing.


This position is a full time permanent role with benefits.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will meet the following minimum education, experience and work requirements:

  • Minimum two-year college degree in business or two (2) years’ experience in a related field (or an appropriate combination of education and work experience).
  • Minimum of two (2) years related work experience in banking, commercial loan servicing or processing preferred.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in interpersonal relations. Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong computer, time management, and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Be comfortable navigating multiple systems and databases at once.
  • Ability to learn a multitude of processes and apply to various products and applications.
  • Superior organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment are required.
  • Must possess a positive, achievement-oriented attitude to build strong relationships with all partners, vendors, and staff.
  • Motivated, self-starter, ability to work independently and on a team.
