About You

The Print and Mail Services Manager will lead the team that is responsible for providing high-quality, cost-effective printing and mailing services in support of all TASB service areas. In addition to managing the team, the manager needs to take a hands-on role in daily production work. This is an on-site position based in Austin, TX.

A Typical Day

  • Manage all print and mailing projects, including scheduling staff and equipment, ensuring machines are operating at maximum efficiency, and meeting project timeline and budget requirements.
  • Lead mail operations for Association-wide pickups and drop-offs for all delivery carriers, manage postage for multiple mail accounts, and run daily mail reports to cross-check for finance reporting.
  • Work with client partners to provide guidance and industry expertise for engaging and successful event materials — from making recommendations on program size and paper stock and providing guidance on banner materials to coordinating giveaway items and establishing project timelines and cost estimates.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Optimize productivity and efficiency while maintaining superior service and quality.
  • Stay up to date on advances, trends, and technology for the continued improvement of printing and distribution services, reporting out regularly on industry trends and planning for new equipment and appropriate maintenance of existing equipment to ensure printing and distribution services stays aligned to industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with communications and marketing team directors and managers to ensure adherence to brand guidelines in all TASB materials and collateral produced.
  • Work closely with department director to develop and adhere to the most efficient and effective processes to deliver projects on time and on budget.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures that ensure smooth and efficient operations within printing and mailing. Maintain policies and procedures as needed to ensure business needs are met.
  • Negotiate price, delivery, and specification of consumables, paper stock, and promotional materials as needed for projects and events; make purchases based on cost and delivery time.
  • Capture accurate materials cost and establish consistent and transparent pricing and invoicing for all projects.
  • Plan and manage annual department budget based on printing and mailing needs budgeted by TASB’s programs and entities.
  • Obtain, negotiate, and ensure the lowest cost for all outsourced print projects.
  • Ensure cost-effective and compliant mailing and shipping.
  • Approves all artwork, envelopes, and mailers to ensure compliance with postal regulations.
  • Keep management informed of changing postal requirements.
  • Ensure that all print and mail services staff adhere to company safety procedures, policies, rules, and regulations at all times.
  • Report regularly to service area management on productivity, budget, and the status of projects.

Skills For Success

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. A bachelor's degree or some college is preferred.
  • Minimum of three years' experience managing staff.
  • Five to seven years combined experience in printing and fulfillment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent knowledge of all facets of printing to include offset, digital, wide format, promotional, color management, and equipment lifecycle management.
  • Strong knowledge of distribution operations including postal automation and finishing of printed materials.
  • Extensive computer skills, including Microsoft Office, project management and production process software, and automated postage.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, department planning, and staffing projections.

Work Environment

Work environment includes noise, mechanical and electrical hazards, and dust. Includes regularly lifting a minimum of 25 pounds. Involved standing, walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, stretching, and reaching, pulling and pushing.
