Adept Fasteners, Inc. is a privately held world-wide distributor of aerospace fasteners. This is an on-site position at our office located off the 5 and the 126 in Valencia and has a fully equipped gym, sit/stand desks, and a café. The Supplier QA Engineer position assists in the fundamental role to aid the Quality Manager in the operation and maintenance of the company’s quality system, AS9100.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support for AS9100 Quality Management System
  • Communicate with customers, regulators, and suppliers to resolve issues and achieve customer satisfaction.
  • Leading the supplier approval process by assessing business controls, risk management, quality controls and manufacturing/technology capabilities
  • Carrying out supplier validation audits, and compile audit reports
  • Perform audits, internal or external to AS9100 and/or customer standards.
  • Facilitating the escalation of unresolved supplier quality issues by working directly with suppliers to create corrective action plans to address process failures
  • Actively participating in supplier recovery efforts by managing technical issue information, providing technical disposition for supplier caused issues, and reviewing metrics for trending data
  • Support maintenance of employee training programs by scheduling, planning, lending, and documenting training activities.
  • Work with customers, suppliers and Adept team members to understand and resolve quality related issues
  • Write or assist in writing procedures, instructions, forms, and training materials for departments.
  • Review and accurately interpret purchase orders, drawings, and specifications
  • On occasion, may visit manufacturing facilities, tradeshows, customer/vendor events and/or training off-site
  • Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The individual will spend most of their time in a busy office environment using standard office equipment. Some of their time may be spent in a warehouse environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will spend a majority of their time sitting or standing using a computer and other standard office equipment. They will also need to occasionally talk and listen, stand, walk, handle, grasp, and use eye/hand/foot coordination. They occasionally may need to lift/carry/push/pull up to 35 pounds, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, balance, or reach. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the functions.


Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • College level English language and composition skills
  • 7+ years of experience as a Senior Inspector or Quality Engineer
  • Relevant training and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
  • Intermediate math, arithmetic and algebra skills
  • Ability to prioritize and produce timely results
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a multidisciplinary team
  • Capable of leading teams and manage programs/projects
  • Capable of interfacing professionally with customers and suppliers
  • Flexibility to travel for work (up to 5%)
  • Internal/External auditing training and experience
  • Experience with Quality systems, ISO 9001, AS9100, and AS9102
  • Knowledge and experience in the effective use of Root Cause Corrective Action, containment and analysis process and tools.
  • Excellent collaboration, verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills; ability to effectively persuade and influence through positive communication with stakeholders, team members, suppliers, and management.
  • Familiar with technical procedures, standards and engineering related documents.
  • Strong background in supplier approval and management.
  • Strong knowledge and use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
