Position Summary
Momentum Academy, a PreK-8 charter school community, is a vibrant, innovative network of schools in St. Louis, MO. Our three pillars, character, confidence, and community, are intentionally woven throughout our vision/mission and, more importantly, how our students and families experience our schools. We seek a seasoned, innovative, human-centered, collaborative, results-oriented, and academically astute individual to serve as our Executive Director. The individual is the lead learner for our network of schools across four campuses. This strategic leader is unwavering in their beliefs and commitment to every child's success, possessing the leadership acumen to empower, connect, and motivate staff to reach their highest potential in service to all Momentum Academy students and families. Creating a culture of high expectations, the Executive Director is responsible for collaboratively partnering with the school board, staff, families, and students to operationalize our vision of ensuring that we “provide the highest level of academics to prepare the next generation of leaders to move toward greater educational and personal well-being so they can impact their families and communities in positive ways.” Our three pillars serve as a roadmap for achieving this goal:
1. Character: We work to develop character in scholars so that they can be the best leaders they can be and achieve their unique goals.
2. Confidence: We promote a sense of curiosity in scholars so that they have a genuine interest in learning and excel in their academic pursuits.
3. Community: We seek to build community among our scholars, team, and families so that everyone has a stake in the success of the scholars and, by extension, the community.
The Executive Director role is an ideal opportunity for a dynamic, solid, innovative instructional leader who aims to leverage existing systems and structures evident throughout our network of schools. The individual will intentionally partner with all stakeholders, building community while balancing urgency and joy. Ultimately, the Executive Director is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the culture of high expectations our students, staff, and families are accustomed to experiencing.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
● Master’s degree in education with a preferred specialty in curriculum and instruction
and instructional leadership
● A doctorate in education administration is preferred
Certification:
● Missouri principal certification (or eligibility to obtain certification) is preferred
Professional Work Experience:
● Five years of demonstrated successful leadership experience at the central
office/district level or equivalent experience in the preK-12 setting
● Experience implementing and operationalizing a comprehensive strategic plan with an
emphasis on academic outcomes
● Experience working in diverse communities
● Experience utilizing data to improve instructional outcomes for students
● Experience supervising, coaching, and evaluating adults
● Experience partnering with a school board or an equivalent governing body
● Experience developing and facilitating high-quality professional learning
● Experience working with families and caregivers
● Experience supporting special education services at the central office level, a plus
● Superior written- and oral communication skills required
● Extensive expertise and success with problem-solving and navigating complex
educational matters

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
● Provide leadership and direction for a network of schools across four campuses
● Collaborate with the school board, peers, and the executive leadership team to refine,
articulate, and continuously improve Momentum’s educational approach to achieve
targeted outcomes
● Strategically partner with the Board regarding progress and areas needing support,
ensuring timely, comprehensive, and effective communication
● Provide frequent, actionable, and relevant feedback to network leadership to improve
practice and organizational health
● Monitor and support principal coaching plans based on individual needs
● Provide direction and support for teams focusing on the work of school leaders and
their leadership teams, including activities that facilitate a community of practice by
establishing instructional leadership expectations and setting measurable goals
● Collaborate with the chief of schools and other leaders to plan and execute summer
institutes for school leaders, new staff, and returning staff
● Lead and monitor the implementation of Momentum’s strategic plan initiatives in
collaboration with the school board, principals, staff, network leadership, and families
● Cultivate a sense of community for all stakeholders, particularly families
● Understand the Missouri School Improvement System (MSIP) and implement effective
monitoring and reporting procedures that align with MSIP guidelines
● Ensure that school improvement plans align with the needs of the schools and the
vision of Momentum
● Coordinate with executive leadership to ensure implementation of green-rated
curriculum, assessments, and instructional practices
● Examine strategies, systems, and policies through a lens of diversity, equity, inclusion,
and anti-racism and ensure they align with school and network priorities and goals
● Leverage influence to interface with governmental agencies, business, and civic
organizations, and the broader community to provide the needed information, promote
the schools’ educational initiatives/priorities, and, where applicable, secure funding
● Adhere to all policies, communicate guidelines inherent in those policies, and oversee
the implementation of the policies
● Monitor building and network budgets to ensure alignment with Momentum’s strategic
priorities and student needs
● Effectively implement a performance management system that is transparent and
promotes excellence across the network
● Actively support the recruitment and retention of highly qualified staff
● Perform other duties as assigned

Reporting Relationship and Teams: The Executive Director reports directly to the school board and works closely with the executive leadership team, building principals and staff. The Executive Director supervises and supports the executive leadership team.
Compensation: Negotiable based on experience, educational background, track record, and specialized leadership/administration efforts.
