Transformation Executive


ABOUT THE POSITION

Lehigh Valley Public Media has an exciting opportunity for a Transformation Executive. The Executive's primary responsibilities include driving a transformation initiative into all parts of the organization and acting as a champion and executive sponsor to the Board of Directors on the transformation initiative. Additional duties are assisting with the mission messaging and engaging the community in outreach efforts.


This position will be on a short-term part-time consulting basis for an initial period of up to six (6) months. The position is eligible for hybrid work, but on-site presence is critical to the success of the position. Consulting fee will be based on prior experience, background and knowledge of public media and non-profit organizations.


ABOUT US

Lehigh Valley Public Media is a growing public media company and home to the recently launched LehighValleyNews.com, the area's only nonprofit and locally operated digital news platform as well as public media television station PBS39 and NPR radio station WLVR 91.3 that offer local, national, and international programming that informs, educates, and entertains. Our education team helps thousands of students and educators at home, at school, and in the community through television programming, outreach services, and other special programs and events.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES FOR A SUCCESSFUL TRANSFORMATION EXECUTIVE

  • Lead the change effort as the executive sponsor to the Board.
  • Build trust among the staff, Board and community.
  • Build a positive organizational culture and establish a unified approach to accomplishing the organization's mission.
  • Advocate in the community for the organization and assist in raising funding.
  • Deliver a cohesive message on the mission to external stakeholders and team members.
  • Ensure achievement of financial objectives as outlined by the Board.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the transformation initiative with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Be an executive presence with the team members and represent their interests with the Board.
  • Be an effective communicator to liaise with team members and Board members, including updates at staff, board and committee meetings as appropriate.
  • Serve as chief spokesperson to/for the community with key stakeholders.
  • Work with the Board and Team Members to develop and communicate a cohesive message on the mission.

  • EXPERIENCE
    • Previous experience leading an organizational transitional project.
    • Previous non-profit experience including but not limited to operations, fundraising and serving on a board.
    • Experience with entrepreneurship ventures and media organizations is helpful.
    • Experience as a consultant, senior executive or a similar role as an entrepreneur and/or strategic leader of an organization.
