POSITION OVERVIEW

The Research & Development Chemist role will assist in the development of new silicone materials and processes by conducting research, analysis, synthesis, and experimentation. Moderate travel may be required.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design product and process improvements.
  • Maintain a laboratory notebook to track the results and data from laboratory experiments.
  • Construct experimental set-ups and conduct related experiments and summarize and analyze experimental data.
  • Maintain laboratory instruments to ensure proper working order and troubleshoot malfunctions when needed.
  • Write technical papers or reports or prepare standards and specifications for processes, facilities, products, or tests.
  • Assist with information for technical sales literature for CHT USA manufactured projects.
  • Prepare test solutions, compounds, or reagents for laboratory personnel to conduct tests.
  • Assist with in-house and off-site investigation of customer complaints and problems.
  • Evaluate laboratory safety procedures to ensure compliance with standards and to make improvements as needed.
  • Interface with the process development lab and assist the quality assurance department in matters of product specification, analytical methods and/or process development or improvements.
  • Confer with scientists or engineers to conduct analysis of research projects, interpret test results, or develop nonstandard tests.
  • Analyze, summarize, and apply concepts in technical literature.
  • Interact with internal and external customers.
  • Attend and present posters/papers at technical conferences
  • Attend trade shows in support of commercial when required
  • All other duties, as assigned

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

  1. PhD in chemistry (or related field) from an accredited college or university, or
  2. M.S./B.S. 5 years of similar industrial chemistry related experience (preferred)
  3. ERP experience (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

  1. Capable of working independently to manage day-to-day tasks
  2. Advanced user type understanding of the Microsoft Office 365 & Suites: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  3. Familiarity with an ERP solution (i.e. SAP, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics ERP, etc.)
  4. Creativity in approaching complex challenges and problems
