Lost&Found is seeking a new Chief Executive Officer to lead our growing organization. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Lost&Found reports directly to its Governing Board of Directors.  As designed by the Board, the CEO serves as the driving force behind one of the most innovative and impactful organizations in the United States focused on youth and young adult suicide prevention and loss survivor support. 


In this role, the CEO will drive strategic decisions; build on Lost&Found’s culture of collaboration and innovation; develop effective team leaders; guide programmatic and operational excellence; support fund and resource development; engage communities where Lost&Found serves and seeks to serve; and advance the mission of Lost&Found locally, regionally, and nationally.


As the leading representative of Lost&Found, this position provides direct supervision to the Directors of Communications, Development, Education & Advocacy, Evaluation & Research Services, Postvention, and Student Programs, as well as administrative staff. The CEO has the discretion to add, remove, or merge these roles as necessary. 

 

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree or higher. Master’s degree or higher in a field related to this position is a bonus.
  • Eight (8) or more years of experience in a nonprofit leadership role, including experience in fundraising, organizational management, marketing, and/or volunteer management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in cultivating community partnerships, developing nonprofit programs and/or services, and driving strategic decisions, particularly for organizations connected to health, education, or human services.
  • A passion for Lost&Found’s suicide prevention and postvention mission, whether through lived experience, professional expertise, and/or acquired understanding.
  • Any such combination of relevant education, experience, and training for the role.

Job Duties

LEADERSHIP & ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Set a passionate, strategic, and positive example for Lost&Found’s team and inspires others to meet Lost&Found’s vision of creating a world without suicide.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to program and department leaders within the organization, promoting cultural, strategy, and operational excellence.
  • Guide leadership teams that are responsible for meeting Lost&Found’s mission, including its programs, development, and community engagement efforts.
  • Continuously cultivate and develop internal collaboration, external partnerships, and resources that help Lost&Found meet its strategic impact goals.
  • Identify and implement organizational practices that continue building upon Lost&Found’s track record of excellence and innovation.
  • Connect with Lost&Found staff leadership individually and as a team to address challenges and opportunities with clear, honest, and compassionate communication.
  • Provide direct supervision and oversight of Directors of Communications, Development, Education & Advocacy, Evaluation & Research Services, Postvention, and Student Programs, as well as administrative staff.


BUDGET & FUNDRAISING


  • Develop and present a balanced and responsible annual budget to the Board for their approval and oversight.
  • Directly manage all aspects of fundraising for the organization including overseeing donor relations, corporate gifts, and managing grant writing activities in collaboration with development staff. 
  • Manage, in close coordination with the Lost&Found Team, the annual budget as well as any budget projections, to ensure financial stability and resource allocation.
  • Assist in facilitating earned revenue strategies, in close coordination with the Team and Board.
  • Serve as a key voice and leader in major gift campaign efforts and partnership development.


BOARD GOVERNANCE 

  • Work with board to fulfill the organization mission.
  • Lead Lost&Found in a responsible manner that supports and guides the Lost&Found mission as defined by the Board of Directors.
  • Provide guidance to Board of Directors and key stakeholders on state of nonprofit, mental health ecosystem, and policy frameworks related to the Lost&Found mission.
  • Communicate effectively with the Board and provides, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.


MISSION & STRATEGY

  • Passionately and strategically support Lost&Found’s suicide prevention and postvention mission alongside board and staff, fulfilling mission through programs, strategic planning, and community outreach.
  • Develop a future-focused vision for Lost&Found to meet growing needs in the communities where Lost&Found serves.
  • Ensure that Lost&Found’s mission-driven programs are effectively implemented.
  • Develop, execute, and evaluate Lost&Found’s strategic plan, aligns organization to Lost&Found strategy and mission, and facilitates future strategic planning.
  • Guide efforts to continuously improve Lost&Found programs and services while meeting strategic goals and meeting community needs.
  • Strategize alongside staff leadership to create workplans, innovate on existing programs, and establish new program partnerships.


STAKEHOLDER RELATIONS

  • Represent the organization to external stakeholders, including funders, community partners, government agencies, and the media, and provide oversight to Lost&Found staff and/or vendors who represent the organization in official capacity.
  • Engage and define strategic partnerships with non-profits of similar or cooperative nature, as well as provide oversight for partnerships established with community organizations or businesses that may benefit from a relationship with L&F.
