Position Overview:

Our Warehouse team is seeking to hire a Dispatcher with at least 3 years of experience to join our Buffalo, NY branch.

This position will be responsible for routing and coordinating timely delivery of goods to predetermined customers on specific routes, reviewing orders prior to delivery, communicating between the staff and customers streamlining daily delivery operations, and providing exceptional customer service to our client base. The duties of this position require a high degree of specialized expertise and skill in maintaining established standards of quality and accuracy.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the driver workforce to ensure customer delivery expectations are met in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Coordinate and log routes for the morning and afternoon delivery trucks.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for drivers and troubleshoot concerns.
  • Develop the driver workforce by setting clear expectations, training, and providing feedback/coaching.
  • Motivate employees while maintaining a positive, result-orientated work environment by striving to achieve performance goals.
  • Apply and enforce company policies and procedures.
  • Build and coordinate routes by assigning delivery stops within geographic areas that ensures operational efficiency and customer delivery expectations are met.
  • Support driver safety and DOT requirements.
  • Exercise discretion while managing schedule changes due to driver absences, business changes, and/or vehicle maintenance.
  • Review driver paperwork for customer account corrections, including changes to delivery instructions.
  • Prepare regular maintenance reports on vehicles to determine needed repairs, inspections, and DOT compliance.
  • Create and maintain accurate records for reporting and analysis purposes.
  • Provide updates such as delivery times, signature capture, picture capture and package refusals to sales representatives, as requested.
  • Develop and improve a clear line of expectations and communication from the point of entry to delivery to customer, for all orders.
  • Build and develop a bench of temp drivers and alternative courier solutions.
  • Hands on sorting of product that is received into individual routes for the day, as needed.
  • Assist drivers with loading trucks, as needed.
  • Miscellaneous warehouse functions, as needed.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience routing and driving 26’ box trucks, or similar vehicles.
  • Territory knowledge of Monroe and Livingston counties.
  • Knowledge of transportation industry laws, safety regulations, and trucking basics.
  • Ability to make decisions individually, within skills and expertise.
  • Proficient computer skills using MS Office and other various computer programs.
  • Strong follow-through on delegated tasks and assignments.
  • Proven desire for customer service excellence.
  • Ability to multitask and handle multiple issues at the same time, without stress.
  • Ability to explain processes and train team members.
  • Must be able to undergo MVR and background check and meet company standards.
  • Must be reliable and punctual for all shifts.
  • Must have reliable daily transportation to branch location.
  • No CDL is required.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • This job operates in a high traffic warehouse that is exposed to outdoor weather conditions. This position requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time as well as the ability to lift 50 – 75 pounds. While mainly standard hours are scheduled for this position, flexibility is required to be able to ensure all orders and job duties are completed by end of shift.
