Position Overview

The Research Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the Grant Research Services functional area. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, stewarding the daily production process; resolving service issues; ensuring legal compliance; managing service level agreements, key performance indicators and team investment, development, and training; and ongoing system improvement. In addition, the Research Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the execution of policy and managing processes and procedures related to the Research Services team. Because of this leadership position, we can fulfill our charitable purpose as a grant making organization by mobilizing resources in a timely manner and providing excellent customer experience.

This position is hybrid based out of the office in Alpharetta, GA.

Reports to: Senior VP of Donor Services

Management/Supervision: Charity Research Specialist I, II & III, Lead Charity Research Specialist, and Related Seasonal Temps

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates service and success in team leadership, including team selection, performance evaluation, training and coaching
  • Ensures that internal and external Service Level Agreements are met and expectations are managed with strong communication
  • Provides oversight and guidance of Charity Research Specialists
  • Engineers and implements ongoing system and process improvements
  • Develops strong relationships and delivers superior customer service
  • Respond to and resolve Service Issues and Questions
  • Other Duties and Responsibilities
    • Supports and promote NCF's mission, vision, values and goals
    • Leads the Grant Review Group review process and documents results
    • Executes the Grant Policy and Guidelines
    • Assists in testing system functionality during upgrades and implementations
    • Seeks opportunities to improve processes and systems to make Research processing more efficient and improve the customer experience including the growth of electronic distributions
    • Leads team meetings to report departmental information and to work with other team members to solve problems
    • Works closely with Legal team to ensure compliance with IRS and legal requirements
    • Develops and maintains strong relationships with local office staff and financial advisors
    • Collaborates with other departments on internal and external training and process development
    • Maintains reporting of various types of research activity and key metrics

Education

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management or other related field is required; related experience in lieu of a degree may be considered

Experience

  • A minimum of five years of related experience in managing a team in a financial services environment is required
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a customer service-oriented environment
  • Previous experience in non-profit or charitable environments
  • Experience in high transaction volume environments

Knowledge Base

  • Working knowledge of IRS non-profit guidelines and filings
  • Working knowledge of charitable, non-profit, foundation, and/or donor advised funds matters.
  • Proven ability to successfully lead and develop a high performing, finance team
  • Experience with ERP and CRM systems (SalesForce and iPhi a plus)
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office applications
