General Position Summary: The Manager of Maintenance is responsible for the maintenance, cleanliness, and repair of school and parish facilities. Be able to perform a variety of routine and non-scheduled facility and equipment maintenance duties. This would include scheduled program maintenance and repairs including carpentry, electrical, and plumbing tasks.

Principal Accountabilities:

Typical Decisions and/or Recommendations Made in This Position:

  • Install, repair and renovate metal and wood equipment, electrical appliances, valves, gas stoves, hot water heaters, sinks, commodes, hand basins, kitchen appliances, heating and cooling systems, sewer lines, irrigation sprinklers.
  • Move and transport furniture, books, and miscellaneous items from buildings.
  • Performs routine truck, tractor, and mechanical equipment maintenance.
  • Maintains daily, manual maintenance logs and work reports indicating time and materials used and help convert this process to the new electronic workorder system.
  • Does rough painting, rough concrete laying, and patch plastering.
  • Removes and replaces defective motors and valves.
  • Part of a team effort that removes snow and ice from roadways, parking lots ramps, and walkways.
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor or pastor.

Supervision Given and/or Received:

  • Provide mentoring and support for all members of the Maintenance Team.
  • Provide support for schoolteachers at each grade level.
  • Supervised by the Director of Maintenance and School Principal.

Internal Contacts:

  • Pastor, School Leadership and Staff, Chief of Staff, and Parish Support Staff.

External Contacts:

  • Ft. Worth Diocese Design and Construction Leadership and all third party maintenance and repair venders and purchased services staff.

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:

  • The position will have occasional weekend work addressing emergency repair situations with the school and church. It will require a minimum of 40 hours per week.
  • There will be frequent need to pick items that weigh up to 20 pounds, regularly pick items over 20 pounds and less than 50 pounds, and occasionally pick up items greater than 20 pounds and if needed assistance will be provided for any type of lifting.

Travel Requirements:

  • There is minimal travel required with this position.

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Have a minimum of 10 years of work experience in general building repair and maintenance.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years of work experience in a leadership position in general building repair and maintenance.
  • High diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
  • Some college hours are preferred, and this could include an Associates or Bachelor’s Degree.

Knowledge and Skills Preferred:

  • Participate in the budgeting of the major school and parish capital projects.
  • Work in conjunction with Director of Maintenance and Chief of Staff to monitor and track operational costs of repairs and maintenance.
  • Demonstrates capability to problem solve independently and with supervision.
  • Work with many different personalities and have the flexibility to pivot to meet the demands of its customers which are schoolteachers, parish staff, and the parish community.
  • Demonstrates the ability to articulate if a project is covered by maintenance staff and volunteers or with outside venders. And if needed be able to identify outside venders to bid on these types of projects.
  • The ability to work with and coordinate activities with staff and volunteers.
