Job DescriptionJob DescriptionAbout the Client: Our client, a 123-bed acute-care hospital, primary stroke center, and cardiac heart surgery hospital, is looking for a Director of Clinical Quality Improvement (DCQI) to join their team. Located on a hillside overlooking the valley, they provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services and are committed to excellence in patient care.
Summary: The Director of Clinical Quality Improvement (DCQI) is a key member of the hospital management team, responsible for the strategic development and implementation of quality and patient safety programs, including performance improvement, patient safety, and accreditation. This role involves planning, organizing, and directing the activities necessary to support these services. The DCQI promotes a Culture of Safety, effective performance improvement methodologies, and ensures data integrity and reliability. This position serves as the liaison with regulatory agencies like The Joint Commission and CMS and oversees continuous survey readiness processes. Collaborating with the Medical Staff, the DCQI promotes evidence-based quality and safety, aiming for optimal patient outcomes. The DCQI ensures that quality improvement goals align with and support organizational goals and priorities.Minimum Education/Experience:
  • Degree (Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate) in a health-related field
  • 5 years of relevant hospital management experience, with 2 years in a directorial role
  • Alternatively, extensive hospital experience ( 7 years) or other pertinent credentials in the areas of responsibility will be considered
Related Skills:
  • Experience in quality/performance improvement, case management, and related areas
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Performance Improvement, Outcomes, and Quality Management
  • Knowledge of Peer Review, Risk Management, Patient Safety, Infection Control Prevention, and Reporting
  • Ability to interpret and process data analytically
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills
  • Proficient in computer operations, statistics, spreadsheets, and database systems
  • Understanding of regulations related to The Joint Commission, state-specific requirements, and CMS
  • Knowledge of Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) guidelines and current trends in quality
  • Ability to lead and coordinate activities of a diverse group
  • Ability to motivate relevant constituencies to embrace change
Licenses/Certificates/Credentials:
  • Certified Professional Risk Management Certification and/or Certified Professional Healthcare Quality Certification within three years of hire
  • Registered Nurse Preferred
Responsibilities:
  • Lead Quality/Performance Improvement activities across the hospital
  • Integrate Quality/Performance Program activities for Medical and Hospital-wide Staff
  • Manage and report data for Quality/Performance Improvement initiatives
  • Oversee the Quality/Performance Improvement department and staff
  • Ensure compliance with all HIPAA policies and procedures pertinent to the DCQI position
