Position Overview:

Responsible for the supervision of all OSF custodial staff: oversees custodial work at OSF campus, off campus events and apartment buildings.

Organizational Background

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) was founded in 1935 in Ashland, OR, and has grown from a three-day festival of two plays to a nationally renowned theatre arts organization that presents a rotating repertory season of up to 10 plays and musicals, including illuminating interpretations of Shakespeare, other enduring classics, and new works. OSF productions have been presented on Broadway, internationally, and at regional, community, and high school theatres across the country. OSF received the 1983 Special Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre and is one of the largest nonprofit theatres in the nation with three stages, including an outdoor Allen Elizabethan Theatre.

Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  1. Supervises and trains the custodial staff
  2. Participates in the hiring, promotion and discharge of all custodial staff.
  3. Provides custodial performance evaluations and reviews.
  4. Prepares written custodial schedules and assigns routine work and special projects to custodial staff
  5. Inspects all buildings for proper completion of assigned duties and projects.
  6. Assists the custodial staff in performing custodial duties such as cleaning, chair and table set up, delivery and moving of equipment as needed.
  7. Maintains and keeps a running inventory of custodial supplies and equipment and tools.
  8. Works with the Assistant to the Facilities Director in ordering and purchasing supplies, equipment and tools for the Custodial Department.
  9. Assigns daily work requests to staff and checks to see that requests are completed in a timely manner.
  10. Repairs and maintains custodial equipment including but not limited to vacuums, extractors, buffers and shampooers which can include but is not limited to switching out motors, electrical cords, hosing and gaskets. Major repairs are sent out for service.
  11. Maintains online timecard system for custodial staff and manages time off requests.
  12. Picks up, moves and delivers miscellaneous items and equipment throughout OSF.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Facilities
  14. Clears gutters, roof drains and storm drains as needed.
  15. Manages the set ups in facility spaces for meetings and other events.
  16. Maintains and is on call for grounds safety in inclement weather: shoveling snow, applying ice melt, clearing drains.
  17. Facilitates recycling of cans and paper products as is allowed.
  18. Ability to manage several projects at the same time: ability to prioritize and re-assign staff and projects as needed on a daily basis.

Minimum Qualifications & Skills: GED required; Employer will consider additional relevant work history in lieu of educational requirements. Five years of prior custodial experience with supervisory experience required. Prior workplace experience using Excel, Word and Microsoft Office required. Knowledge of use of power tools, hand tools, vacuum cleaners, buffers and other custodial equipment Ability to maintain and repair custodial equipment.

Other Skills, Ability and/or Knowledge: Ability to maintain a professional and positive work environment by behaving and communicating in a positive and professional manner with staff, co-workers, management and vendors. Must have a valid Oregon driver’s license and a good driving record.

Physical Ability: Ability to lift 60 pounds frequently, Ability to climb ladders, stairs frequently and to perform routine cleaning duties and functions such as kneeling, bending, climbing, stooping, reaching, and scrubbing.

Hours Requirements: 40 hours a week with occasional weekend and evening work. Occasional on call as needed.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills: Spanish /English language is a plus, positive attitude and an ability to work with a variety of people.

Salary Range: 70K-76K
