As the HR Generalist at National Apartment Association (NAA), you’ll play a pivotal role in talent acquisition, onboarding and human resource operations. You will collaborate with managers and senior staff to determine hiring needs and attract candidates using various sources such as job sites, social networks, job fairs, and employee referrals, designing innovative recruitment strategies. You will develop and manage onboarding/offboarding processes, ensuring a seamless employee experience. You will support the benefits and payroll administration function, and act as a trusted resource for employees on benefits and NAA policies. The ideal candidate is energetic, upbeat, and able to work in a rapidly changing environment while maintaining accuracy and a people-first focus.


This role is a hybrid position based in Arlington, VA.


Principal Accountabilities:

Recruiting:

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment process, from sourcing and screening to interviewing and onboarding.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive recruitment strategies to attract top-tier talent
  • Analyze recruitment and onboarding metrics to optimize processes, enhance the candidate experience, and streamline hiring workflows
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and create effective job descriptions
  • Ensure hiring, screening, and interviewing adhere to legal requirements and company policies
  • Enhance and maintain strong employer branding to attract and retain top talent
  • Compile and present reports on common recruiting metrics such as time to fill, onboarding experience, applicant experience, and hiring manager satisfaction.

Onboarding:

  • Design and implement onboarding programs that facilitate the successful integration of new employees into the company culture
  • In partnership with the Training and Development Manager, design, organize, and deliver HR orientation presentations to seamlessly integrate new employees into the company culture and operational frameworks
  • Partner with the Training and Development Manager to facilitate quarterly training sessions for hiring managers
  • Lead the Welcome Committee, fostering a welcoming space for new hires

Human Resources Operations:

  • Support the benefits administration process; including assisting during Open Enrollment.
  • Act as subject matter expert on HRIS (Paylocity)
  • Work with the Director and the Finance team throughout the payroll process to ensure employees’ pay, benefits, and deductions are accurate
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, with discretion and tact.
  • Recommend process improvements with the goal of providing a people-first experience for our staff
  • Manage the exit process by conducting exit interviews to gather feedback and supporting departing employees with guidance on benefits
Requirements:
  • 3+ years' experience or equivalent in HR Generalist roles with recruiting responsibilities.
  • Demonstrable experience utilizing an Applicant Tracking System and HR databases, (experience with Paylocity preferred)
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills
  • Proficiency in analyzing recruitment metrics and data
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities effectively


Preferred Education and Experience:

Trade Association experience

PHR or SHRM CP certification

Physical Demands:
